My 2026 Montana elk hunt I got to hunt with a good buddy of mine, a legend in the industry, Randy Walk. The man who built HOYT @hoyttargetarchery for the last 30 years. Now he's retired and just living the dream. @beauhunter66 we missed you on this hunt.. it was epic.. #bakcoulife #livelife #hunting #elkhunting #taggedout

That sweet time might be over. But the prep for next has begun! Who else is thinking about the the days of big bulls running into the calls? #elkhunting #hoytarchery #mavenbuilt #kifaru

Day 1 😍

This day got wild. Bugles up multiple bulls. Found one that was ready to go. My age old puzzle on elk is chasing a heard bull and breaking him to stop pushing his cows to turn and come into my call. I had chased this bull for over a mile. Split his heard in half and was between him and his cows. Solo calling this bull I had him stopped. Now with him under 40 and us both silent, I could see him begun to take steps my way. He froze. I was ready to draw but he swirled and bolted up around me with the few cows he still had. Catching my wind trotting out of sight. Such a heartbreaker and was my one close opportunity.

I cherish elk season and thankful for these days!!

Elk season has officially ended for me. My second rifle client, now friend, punched his tag on the big bodied broke rack bull in Tennessee on the first day. This bull bugled about 5pm probably a 1/2 mile away, responding to my bugle. After shifting our shooting position to keep from getting busted, he came in on a string and turned broadside at just 56 yards. This was the raw emotion that made this hunt so exciting and rewarding for me as a guide. Thank you CJ, I truly enjoyed it!

The is the @puckoutdoors reed holder I used this archery season to carry all my elk calls! Worked great and is ventilated so the reeds try out. Use code: TURCO to save on your own puck!
