This is what happens when you give a girl her own money and free will 🧃🫣🫜

And this time, I got myself the world’s No. 1 slow juicer — Hurom E50-ST 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been wanting to get into making fresh juices at home, and I picked this one because the wide hopper means I don’t have to spend forever chopping everything, plus it’s surprisingly quiet 🙉🍎🩵

(things I buy with my adult money, juicer, Hurom slow juicer, cold press juicer, fresh juice at home, healthy lifestyle, kitchen essential, wellness routine)

Anyone else been fighting off this cold that’s been going around? 🤧

Recipes for everything are below!

Quinoa + date porridge:

1 x cup quinoa cooked
2 x dates
Teaspoon of cinnamon
Teaspoon of cacao powder
1 x cup of almond milk (or milk of choice)

Once the quinoa is cooked and cooled, blend it with the date, cinnamon & milk adding a pinch of salt until smooth. Then heat up on the stove and serve with your choice of toppings. I think it’s best served with fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Carrot + butternut squash soup:

Bag of carrots
1 x squash
4 gloves of garlic
1 x red onion
Teaspoon of miso paste
1 litre of stock

Roast the carrots, squash (I like to leave the skin on), garlic and onion in a baking tray, drizzle over olive oil, salt, pepper and mixed herbs.
Once everything is cooked and cooled, add to a blender along with the miso paste and stock - blend until everything is smooth! I love to serve with some form up carb and top with mixed seeds, olive oil and chili flakes.

Juice:

Blend together a bag of carrots, whole celery, three oranges, one lime and around three pieces of ginger.

Juicer is @huromuk gifted*

Smoothie:

Blend together a banana, almond milk, coconut water (not essential), protein powder (I use @formnutrition) almond butter (@pipandnut) and spirulina.

Enjoy and let me know if you make any!

Love, liv xxx

Pineapple + lime — sources of vitamin C, and can help with the absorption of iron.
Cherries — naturally rich in antioxidants and plant compounds, including anthocyanins.
Spinach — are packed with folate, vitamin C & vitamin K.

Let’s be honest, no morning shot will replace good nutrition, training or sleep

The biggest benefit of this shot to me isn’t technically what is in it.

It’s the habit of starting my day with something sharp, strong and consistent that marks the start of the day.

This week’s mix:

* 200ml apple cider vinegar
* 50–100ml lemon juice
* Orange & lemon pulp
* 2 tsp turmeric
* ½ tsp black pepper
* Water to dilute

Potential benefits:

* Turmeric contains curcumin, which has been linked to anti-inflammatory effects.
* Black pepper may help improve curcumin absorption.
* Apple cider vinegar may help support blood glucose control as part of a healthy diet.
* Citrus provides vitamin C and adds flavour.

Preparing for cold & flu season 🥕🍊🍋

I love knowing exactly what I'm putting into my body. Food is medicine after all

I used:
Orange + lime — rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, supporting normal immune function and helping protect cells from oxidative stress.
Carrot — packed with beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. Vitamin A supports normal immune function and helps maintain healthy skin.
Ginger — has antioxidant compounds and has anti-inflammatory properties.
Turmeric — powerful antioxidant compound with anti-inflammatory properties.

AD | Gifted by @huromuk
I was recently gifted a Hurom slow juicer, and when a friend who’s been using hers for a while told me she makes all her nut milks with it, my mind immediately went to one thing: BAO’s Peanut Milk 🥜

Inspired by the traditional Taiwanese drink Mee Jiang, it’s been on BAO’s menu since day one and I’ve always loved it. Luckily, @bao_london shared their recipe, so I adapted their method slightly to put the juicer to work.

The peanuts were soaked until softened, then went into the juicer with water. It extracted the peanut milk so easily, and I was genuinely impressed by how quiet the machine was. It didn’t seem to struggle with the peanuts at all.

A few first impressions of the Hurom itself: despite arriving in quite a big box, everything inside is really compact, with the different parts neatly packed into their own smaller boxes. It was surprisingly easy to assemble, and after cleaning I can pack everything away again. That’s particularly useful for me because I don’t have the countertop space to keep another appliance out permanently.

I originally wondered how often I’d actually use a juicer, but I already have a little list forming 😂 Next up might be the grapes we picked from the allotment. I usually turn them into kefir ice cream, and I’m hoping the juicer will make very easy work of separating all those pesky pips 🍇

Thank you @huromuk for sending this one for me to try 🤍
