There’s not a lot you can do to get stronger two weeks out from a meet, but you can for sure get weaker.

Don’t test your maxes. Don’t grind out reps. You don’t need sets of 7–8 on your compound lifts or bodybuilding sets of 20 just because you feel like you haven’t done enough.

You’ve spent months building your strength. Give yourself a chance to recover and actually show it on meet day. Every session doesn’t need to leave you smoked to serve a purpose.

I’ve never done less two weeks out from a meet and regretted it. I have done too much and regretted the hell out of it.

Follow the plan. Eat. Sleep. Save some of that energy for the platform.

I’ve got the tactical stuff, but this one just screams America 🇺🇸

Smith & Wesson Model 27-9 chambered in .357. That big N-frame with a 4-inch barrel is sick. Had to get some cowboy guns to match the cowboy vibes.

The Model 27 goes back to the 1935 Registered Magnum, the first .357 Magnum revolver, and Model 27s have been in countless movies like The Godfather, Bad Boys, and Patton.

A cross between a tricep extension and a close grip bench press, it’s a secret weapon in triceps development.

@j.m.blakley of the famous Westside Barbell is the creator and with arms and a bench to match (back in his heyday) it would behoove us to listen.

Still working to get it down as I’m a rank beginner based on how much I’ve use this movement.

Today's Training:
A shitload of sets of Keystone Deadlifts for 5 reps.

Goals:
Move a mediumish weight FAST.

I super-setted these with one of my all time favorite ab exercises: Hanging Crunches using my @spudincstraps Kaiju Ab Straps.
They're not really crunches, and the don't look that hard, but oohh boy, do you feel them the next day.

I did a bundh of other stuff too but didn't record it.

Good day to train.

☆☆Old Man Conjugate-Warlord Conjugate Training Today☆☆

Sooooo...
Today I trained at a commercial gym.

Why?
A few reasons.

1. I haven't been in one for years and wanted to check out the latest equipment.

2. I wanted to train and not talk to anyone. Can't do that at TPS.

While I am not religious, I feel truly blessed to be able to train in my own house around people who have the same set of training values.

At the Globo Gym there were a few people actually TRAINING, and that made me happy.

Most of them were looking at their phones, flirting or checking themselves out in the mirrors.

And that's ok if that's what they want to do.

Oh, and there was more than a few dudes wearing GYMSHARK gear.

Is that a thing?
Do I need some?

I'm grateful that I've built a culture of training and not a culture of flirting, preening and fuckery.

I'll be back to my regularly scheduled nonsense Monday.

I wasn’t going to post this because of how I felt about bombing out for the first time.

I could go on about what I could’ve done differently and how I could’ve prevented this

But none of that matters right now.

What mattered is how everyone showed me so much love and care after seeing me strain my quad on 865lbs.

The amount of prayers and people checking on me has filled my heart.

@big_papi_panora said “how many 900lb squatters do you know that haven’t gotten injured”?

I needed that and with that the fire inside of me is the hottest site ever been.

With that being said here’s my 2nd attempt @837lbs

This was an easy 11lb pr for me…..

Today's training:

My usual bullshit.
High Kinetic Squats with my @bandbell BKB bar.

Then, a WINNER!
Can't believe I didn't think of this one before.

I'm a huge fan of using our @sorinex Back Attack but still in the Connex Box since we moved.

I needed a solution to hammer my erectors like the Back Attack.

I tried a bastsrdized RDL with my @spudincstraps Dr. Squat Strap.

Holy bawlz!

These are a winner.

Executed just like a traditional RDL but let the bar drift away as you push the hips back.

Awesome.

While Applachia is being destroyed and no help is on the way, I counted my blessings today and did my Max Effort Lower Body seasion.

@bandbell Brass Knuckle bar Squats to a box.
2 plates and a quarter felt heavy.
Stopped there and did a back off set.

Belt Box Squats
Glute Ham Raise
Glute Ham Situps

I am not religious, but I urge you to count your blessings and pray for our brother and sister Americans in Appalachia.
