Happy birthday to our hunky dreamboat Keith @husharbors 🛼🛼🥷🏼🥷🏼🛼🛼 Between a Reno casino night for Kraftwerk (SO fun to hotel crash upstairs after epic gig; Juni loves Kraftwerk and lasted nearly whole set…) and some hi-dez Mono County, we’ve had choice necessary fam time together to celebrate him. He stayed home on childcare and FT school teaching while I took three biz trips mid-semester which was heavy for us both. I’m really grateful and couldn’t start digging back into my creative practice & scholarship without his help. I admire how he makes music every night after J is asleep and he’s making my favorite song he’s ever made right now. He’s also taught himself over past few years how to become a righteous DJ and makes amazing mixes using his own new electronica and other synth and ambient stuff he digs. Of course he is a naturally rad DJ, so cool to watch him morph! I hope we can see beautiful parts of the world through his future gigs! Just quietly learning and making new genres over here. I hope he’ll be able to get out and about to share and collab again soon. He’s so humble generous and talented. I ❤️ Keith.💄💋 PS look how sweet it is of them to carry our tired pups down the trail, but yeah, we fluff not tuff pups. This is like a 2-mile hike. Granted, some sharp obsidian, but mostly have retired their feisty old dez ways chasing coyotes for sofa soft spots. // PPS K didn’t like Mammoth much 😂 said he prefers free outdoor spaces that remain less commodified. That’s my man! 💪🏽

January 2026 will mark 30 years of Foxy Digitalis, which is completely mental to me (and god that must mean I’m old as hell). But it’s been a ride, and I’ll have to figure out some way to celebreate the 30th anniversary (new print edition, at least!?). Done so many rad things over that span of time I can’t even begin to keep track.

1- Masthead of the first issue that featured an interview with JD, still one of the all-timers.

2- First iteration of the website that I built in 2003 and updated manually (i.e. formatting each page by coding the html by hand b/c I didn’t know anything else).

3- Second iteration of the website that Stephen Clover (seht) built from sketches Eden and I made. That one went from 2007 until maybe 2010?

4- Last iteration of the website before the relaunch, built on Wordpress, back when we had 40+ writers and published a load of stuff everyday. The golden era! 2010?-2013

5- Poster for Bottled Smoke Festival we put on in LA in 2007. Goddamn what a time.

6- The Bottling Smoke exhibition w/ a ton of Digitalis artwork, writing, etc. Baby Brad.

7- Ajilvsga w/ John Twells at the fest. I still think that’s the gnarliest set we ever played and I’m still sad I don’t have a recording of it.

8- Me and Twells in LA when things seemed a whole lot simpler. Can say with certainty that John changed my life.

9- 2005?6? Chandler Park session with Keith Wood. Been evangelizing about this city for longer than some of y’all been alive.

10- Highlight among the recent run of shows over the last few years, and there’s been some damn good ones.

11- Got back into doing Soundwalks last year. Did a couple. Some new ones on the way soon.

12- The Bird House is probably the most audacious Foxy Digitalis undertaking yet, and maybe the most important. Nobody else I’d do it with than, Eden. Can’t believe we’ve been together nearly 22 years. I don’t deserve any of it.

Feeling good about 50 🎂 50 our daughter turns 7 and hopefully I’ll get tenure. Parenting is a cool trip after so many epic life adventures Keith and I had prior to this leg. Wouldn’t trade order or variety of our Bildungsroman for anything. Always down for the heavy quest. Daily hunch that we’re lowbrow jokers trying to stay sober in some acid western picaresque. Lotta hills to climb. Fights against Babylon structure complicated infinitely by decision to become responsible to small human. Worth it. Wisdom: don’t get Guinea pigs they’re cute but they poop too much. Thanks to @husharbors for being my Don Quixote ride or die it’s hard to hold punk space in soccer mom era but i won’t give up🌹🌹👑🦄 🌹🌹 and thanks to chosen sister Mere for surprise visiting us from Alaska! We love you Mere! And thanks to @saraborhaz for being the raddest comadre during our academic witch trials, keeping full-time job stuff humane and heartfelt.

Dragon wishes Bok Kai—water god of the north—happy birthday. 🧨🔔 143 years strong, this boisterous event. Lions go door to door blasting good luck lettuce & firecrackers all afternoon following parade.
