Jett Smeal, a freshman finance and business analytics major, has spent his freshman year involved in the Entrepreneurship Catalysts program, the @raikesschool, and now @huskervf.

"I remind myself often that success is not just about the destination, but the journey. I believe integrity is essential in everything I do, and that doing things the right way is what will get me to my goal of being a successful entrepreneur."

Some highlights from Jett's year as a Catalyst include being selected as an associate of Husker Venture Fund, opportunities to hear from guest speakers including the CEO of Scooter's Coffee, and recently beginning his venture journey creating a social golf app. It's been a busy and exciting year, and we look forward to seeing all Jett accomplishes at Nebraska.

A few weeks ago, six members of the Husker Venture Fund traveled to Pittsburgh to compete in the regional VCIC (Venture Capital Investment Competition)…and for the second time in three years, they brought home first place!

After winning regionals in 2023, this team has done it again — a testament to the consistency, preparation, and competitive edge that define HVF. Please join us in congratulating this year’s team: Adam Messman, Samuel Lockhart, Shahd Khourshed, Elizeh Tarkian, Sebastian Pucher, and Maddock Oberzan.

We’re incredibly proud of how they represented Husker Venture Fund and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on a national stage. Their performance reflects not only individual excellence, but the strength of the program we’ve built together.

Next stop: Global Finals this April at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! Good luck, Huskers!

Student. Developer. Investor. 👨‍💻⚙️🚀

Alex Fitch, a freshman computer science and finance major and Entrepreneurship Catalyst, is taking advantage of every opportunity in front of him. Whether it’s diving into venture capital with @huskervf or working with the DineU team through the @raikesschool Startup Studio, his favorite moments have come from connecting directly with guest speakers and learning from their real-world success.

With a summer internship at @useworkshop on the horizon, Alex is proving that freshman year is the perfect time to start building a bright future.

#ThrowbackThursday to last semester's Careers in Design and Innovation Day where @huskervf alum and now Head of Strategic Finance at @useworkshop, Samuel DeZube, kicked off the day and both Husker Venture Fund and the Accelerator program hosted sessions for prospective students and their families.

We're grateful to @nebraskabiz and the other partnering colleges for giving us the opportunity to share these experiences with future Huskers ❤️

“You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going, but if you stay curious, work hard and keep showing up, you’ll be amazed at where you end up. I can tell you, from my experience, there’s no better place to figure it out than right here in the College of Business.” - Samuel DeZube, '23

High school students learned from Husker students and alumni who are driving change through design, technology and entrepreneurship at the first Careers in Design and Innovation Day.

Keynote speaker DeZube, a finance, math and computer science alum, shared four lessons he wish someone told him in high school:

➡️ Be okay with uncertainty. It means you’re growing!
➡️ Say yes before you feel ready. Confidence follows action.
➡️ Build relationships to build your resumes.
➡️ Don’t underestimate the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The people, opportunities and community here make anything possible.

Drop a lesson you learned at UNL in the comments!
