Ever wonder what goes into the gear that makes your time on the water that much better?

Our shop owner Josh and shop staff member and guide @chase_penner had the incredible privilege of attending Mayfly Dealer Days this month. It was a chance to go behind the scenes and learn what goes into producing the products we know and love across the Mayfly family.

From the incredibly meticulous, hand-painted finishes to the precision machinery and tight tolerances, every detail reflects the craftsmanship and care that go into making these products. Just as importantly, we got to meet the passionate people behind the scenes who work hard to make your time on the water that much better.

And we’re excited to bring some of that knowledge back to the shop! We have some exciting things on the horizon, including reel and vise repair and servicing. Stay tuned!

A huge thank-you to all the wonderful folks at Mayfly for welcoming us and sharing what you do. Every visit leaves us with something new to learn and an even greater appreciation for the people, passion, and craftsmanship behind these incredible products. We’re grateful to be a part of it all!

Four teams. One day. Absolutely no idea what was going on.

Traitors were exposed. Undiscovered territory was discovered. Four eggs remained uncracked. Phone service ceased to exist. Aspen celebrities were spotted. Alliances were formed. A five star lakeside lunch brought the operation to a close. We will call mandatory fun day a success⭐️

Together, we were able to donate $20,000 through the Bronco Wild Fund to the Roaring Fork Fishing Guide Alliance for help in the restoration of the West Bank Boat Ramp — a public access point that had been in critical need of repair.

What was once a deteriorating launch is now a safer, more accessible space thanks to months of planning, construction, restoration, and the dedication of so many people who care deeply about these waters.
This project isn’t just about a boat ramp—it’s about protecting access, supporting local anglers and guides, and ensuring future generations can continue to experience the Roaring Fork Valley the way it was meant to be.

A huge thank you to Bronco Wild Fund for believing in grassroots conservation and empowering individuals to make tangible change in the communities they love. We’re incredibly grateful to the Roaring Fork Fishing Guide Alliance for the work they continue to do to protect our fisheries and public access.

Number 11 on our #Top25of2025: Mayfly Dealer Days (@rossreels @abelreels @airflofishing @renzettillc @airliteflyrods) Mayfly Outdoors hosted their first Dealer Days event and what an incredible opportunity it was.

They were gracious hosts and brought dealers in for a peak under the hood. We got an eye opening tour of the reel manufacturing process, and even got an opportunity to try painting some of the custom artwork that goes into Abel Reels. Crazy to discover that professional artists take 12+ hrs for some of the custom artwork and yet in 15min we had hardly filled in more than a few spots on the amazing artwork from @andrealarko @caseyunderwoodart and @derek.deyoung. Very humbling to see how intricate and detailed the artwork and process each and every reel goes through, truly is. They had everything from casting and fly tying games, to tech sessions on lines that felt like cramming for midterms.

Such a great event put on by incredible people. Could not be more grateful for the opportunity, the hospitality, the knowledge imparted, the opportunity to network with like minded people, and for all the hard work of the team at Mayfly Outdoors 🙏🏻 The team knocked it out of the park, so thank you again for everything!

Even the rare bonytail chub couldn’t resist this setup…

Big thank you to @airflofishing, @airliteflyrods, @hutchflyfish, and Mayfly Outdoors for not only the gear, but the conservation they’re fighting for so we can keep catching this critically endangered, albeit derpy, native species.
