Things to do in October in Catania. Explore the ‘Anfiteatro Romano’, a truly spectacular ongoing ‘archaeological discovery’ below the modern city centre. ‘One of the largest of the Roman Empire ….which could hold 15,000 spectators on its 32 steps. Mostly preserved underground & hidden by the modern city centre, but partly accessible. A hidden treasure. Direct flight from Heraklion to Catania. #citybreaks #catania #amphitheatrecatania #siciliandays #ancientruins

October, the busy holiday ‘season’ is ending in the smaller rural towns & it’s time for olive harvesting. It’s nearly time for us to say goodbye to Crete until next time. Farewell to the Cretan mountains, ‘sea of many blues’ & sunny rocky sandy landscape. Some of the larger hotels will stay open longer. Some towns like #agiosnikolaos carry on as usual through the winter months. Hiking in the mountains is becoming very popular with locals & visitors during autumn & spring time. Beach walks are a delight in autumn & winter. #greekislands #greece #mountains cretanlandscape

Cretan Sunday 🇬🇷. October butterflies dancing in the sunshine, Dakos & grilled breadcrumbed ‘sardines with capers’ lunch in the garden, olive grove love & lots of ‘sea gazing’ from someone’s ‘future home’ & where we used to walk our little dog, ‘Lilly Loo Longtail’ when we first moved here with her from Hong Kong 10 years ago. #eloundacretegreece #octobersunshine #cretanfood #sardines #greekislands

#nofilters #reels ‘Verdi’ described ‘Adelina’ as being perhaps the finest singer who had ever lived. The Welsh fairytale home of 19th century world famous Italian opera singer ‘Adelina Patti’ has her beautiful ‘Italian Theatre’ where she used to also perform. Now mostly used for #weddings - you will never want to leave. #craigynos #mosthaunted #craigynoscountrypark #swanseavalley #wales #powys #adelinapattitheatre #adelinapatti #soprano #explore #rossini #verdi #mozart #opera #operasinger #craigynoscastleweddings #singer #ystradgynlais #danyrorgofcaves #swansea #italian #arts #performers #stage #romantic #romance #cymru

January in Bargoed, Wales. Best place for fish & chips with a green mountain view. I remember going to visit my Welsh grandparents when I was a young girl. Cow watching with the local children was a regular pastime in the ‘60s ‘pre social media’. Spending hours sitting on a farm gate & giving the cows cute names. Bargoed mountain definitely takes me back to those gentle days of green hills & cow gazing. #bargoed #wales #cattle #mountain #greenhills #countryside #cardiff #greengrass #caerphilly #wales #cymru #aberbargoed #blackwood #rambling #hiking #merthyrtydfil #rugby #classiccars #italians #italia #greenenergy #ecofriendlyliving #plaidcymru #windenergy #solarenergy #earthakitt #bargoedlibrary #mountainview #chinesenewyear #lowry #artist

The hidden beauty of Bargoed & its green lush hinterland. Mountains, wild horses with their young foals, meadows of wildflowers & dusty peach sky. Miners once walked the streets on their way to dig at the pit. #Italians from north west Italy made a new life here too. So much history to tell. The best place for hot toasted slices of panettone & a coffee. The swanky new trains connect this Welsh valley town with Cardiff. Green energy. Green conservation. Remains of a Roman fort can be seen at Gelligaer. ‘Lord Nelson pub’ at Nelson named after Nelson when he visited the area. #bargoedlibrary #italiancafes #wildhorses #artwork #artists #foxgloves #streetart #bestfishandchips #wales #welshvalleys #paragliding #fochriw #ystradmynach #nelson #gelligaer #llancaiachfawrmanor #llancaiachfawrmanorhouse #lowry #bargoed #bargoedfarmcamping #visitwales #transportforwalesrail #blackwood #exploringwales #beautifulwales #discoverwales #discovercymrucountryside #countrysideliving #caerphilly
