Hooks & Loops: The Hyperstitch @hyperstitch_ is a unique team project featured in this year’s Material Lab Prize exhibition, with computational model & rendering by Lucius Hu @luciuslecter and lead research by Gisela Baurmann @giselasbaurmann .

Hooks & Loops investigates crochet at an architectural scale, focusing on the craft’s topological qualities and ductility, and testing material and scale shifts to reveal new possibilities for adaptable, resilient structures. This project opens a dialogue between craft, architecture, and material science and suggests that challenging notions of fragility and strength can inform new solutions in volatile environments.
