lengthy post dedicated to apparitions, @hypnotique_nyc, and all the adventures before that at @themckittrick 🤍

january of 2022, i began my short yet rewarding journey at the mckittrick as a directing apprentice for sleep no more while they were reopening the show since the shutdown. my senior year was clouded with uncertainty until i stepped into that space. i watched these artists engulfed in their work, detach and reattach their human selves onto this foreign being. i would study every. single. movement. starting from how their eyes trace along the path, down to how their feet would be positioned towards another friend (or foe). intention was everything and i held onto it all tremendously. in my free time, i would quietly roam the infinite halls. floor by floor, i would absorb as many details in every room (and maybeeee snag a candy or two) i left that experience motivated more than ever and hopeful for my future.

i didn’t know it then, but the people in this curious building would soon completely change my life.

warmest thank you to @fulloutfarrish @sbb_land @spraybs @reginald.robson @marlaphelan for taking chances on me throughout the years that manifested in wonderous capacities. many “firsts” were because of you all! first parties, pole performances, contracted jobs, and first role as rehearsal director for a running show were because of these fierce figures in the community. i am constantly inspired by you all.

kayla, i still think about the conversation we had after your class (you know the one) which soon blossomed into this beautiful friendship. i wouldn’t have experienced nearly as much in this amount of time without you seeing me from the very beginning (especially when i felt like a shadow in the dark)

i have learned oh so much the past three years but more than anything, the mckittrick provided irreplaceable relationships i will hold with the utmost care. i truly have met some of the greatest people there.

grateful to be apart of the final hooray with @hypnotique_nyc as we said goodbye to the hotel. 3 nights of nostalgia, hugs, and lots of bubbles

This past weekend, a beloved and incredible place came to an end. It’s been tough to put into words how it feels, but lemme give it a shot.

The McKittrick gave me so much over the years. I first saw Sleep No More during my first trip to NYC in 2018, and I was hooked right away. Little did I know, my first big show in the city would be in that same building.

Hypnotique was my first experience swinging in a show—learning the whole thing in just an afternoon and going on that night is something I’ll never forget. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the most insanely talented people and truly the kindest souls.

What made this place truly magical was the people. I’m so grateful I got to be a small part of its legacy. Thank you @themckittrick 🤍✨

Apparitions! 💞✨ We’ve said our final farewell to the beloved McKittrick Hotel! Last week lots of time was spent in this space, from seeing the final Sleep No More NYC performance to rehearsal/tech/performances/parties! While I’ve not been able to sum up the closing of our show @hypnotique_nyc just yet….I am forever grateful for being one of the performers that has called the McKittrick home and for the family it has gifted me! Is that all there is? Forever, @sleepnomorenyc was part of our New York adventure. It was running almost the entire time we have been here. Not unlike the Starcruiser, even if you weren’t attending, you were just glad it was there and people were enjoying it. Now that it, @hypnotique_nyc and its incredible parties are over, we reflect: Is that all there is to a play, to a hotel, to the once spirits that inhabited it all these years? It isn’t all. @lifeandtrust and @speakeasymagick remain to take your breath away. Thank you to Emursive and @akaynyc for believing in the art of entertainment. We will miss this special place. But we know it is all just beginning. Reposted because the first one dropped 30 crucial seconds of memories.

Thank you, 2024! ✨
Blessed and happy to still be here as I welcome the new year at home in 🇲🇽.

What a year! Full of lessons, growth, light—and dark times too. I got to travel, meet incredible people, artists, friends, students, and colleagues.

This past year holds a special place in my heart for my career as an event organizer. Creating my own events filled with everything I love, pouring so much care into them, and bringing long-held dreams to life has been a challenging yet rewarding journey. It was tough, but it was also very possible—and I’m grateful for everyone who supported and believed in me.

I also had the privilege to work with amazingly talented artists and perform in some truly beautiful, legendary spaces. I kept working full-time as an artist and, after all the hard work, was able to come home for an entire month to recharge.

Sometimes, with so much going on, it can feel like I didn’t do enough. But looking back, every challenge I faced taught me something, and I’m proud of what I achieved. I feel closer to my true self and more intentional about who and what I give my energy to, whether it’s a person or a community. My mental health remains my priority!

I’m welcoming 2025 with open arms and a heart full of hope—for more love, health, success, and good energy.

P.S. It’s also my last year in my 20s… what the fack?! 😂

Spent a really long time coming up with words that describe my time with @hypnotique_nyc and all that comes to mind is: “grateful and indebted”.

One night I found myself at the McKittrick to see Hypnotique in its first preview. It was by far the most eclectically beautiful show I had ever seen, and I walked out of the club car looked my friend straight in the eye and said “I need to be in this”.

Fast forward to April when the last round of callbacks took place, and the same day I booked my dream show. Potentially stepping in for @saulscoco was genuinely unfathomable. To this day I give Courtney all of the credit for teaching me how to dance in a heel, and swinging into her track (let alone being in the same show as her) was one of the greatest honors I’ll ever have ♥️

Thank you @spraybs & @reginald.robson for seeing something in me that I never saw in myself. Thank you @jessecascott for your gracious spirit and guidance in quite literally everything. Without you, there’s no way I could have done this and that’s a fact. Thank you @miashindle for being my rock. And lastly, thank you to everyone that supported me in this show. You all saw me as my most confident and authentic self, and for that I am forever grateful.

To my cast mates, you all are easily the most talented and innately genuine humans I’ve ever had the pleasure to surround myself with. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and open hearts. I will carry your love with me forever. Here’s to the chapter that has just closed and to the one that has just opened 🫂
