Long-haul flight to Texas today, so putting a few things into practice to mitigate travel fatigue ✈️

✅ 10,000 steps before boarding – made the most of my time at Heathrow with 10,490 steps (7.3 km).

✅ Hytro BFR flushes – 3 x 5 this morning, then 1-3 x 5-minute flush every three hours during the flight.

✅ High-protein - satiating snacks, bringing my own food rather than relying on airline meals.

✅ Hydration - plenty of water with electrolytes throughout the flight. 1.5L before take off at 2pm.

✅ Movement - getting up regularly to walk and move around where possible.

✅ Phaze - using the app to help manage my circadian rhythm and minimise jet lag.

Nothing particularly complicated, just a few practical strategies to make a long day of travelling a little easier.

✈️ Travel light. Recover smart.

When you have to downsize your load-out, what makes
it in the bag?

The goal is to pack less, stay efficient, and get the most out of what you bring. ♻️💪

What’s one recovery tool you never travel without? 👇

How precise does BFR really need to be? And does more precision always mean better results?

New episode of the BFR Better for Results Podcast is live. I sat down with Dr. Warren Bradley, PhD, co-founder of Hytro, to debate the trade-off between the “ideal” protocol and the one athletes will actually use consistently.

We get into:

How much pressure precision actually matters
What the evidence says about BFR for recovery
Intermittent BFR and neuromuscular recovery
BFR during aerobic work
Safety screening and why tolerance matters
Reperfusion and vascular response after cuff release
Practical BFR vs clinical cuffs
How pro teams use BFR for recovery, warm-ups, and travel
Hytro’s funded PhD research program and where the field is headed
Lab meets real world. Some agreement, some pushback, all useful.

I had the pleasure of rehabbing @joseph_7530 after his knee surgery last year and we documented the journey. We got the knee quiet after surgery using the Game Ready cryotherapy device, we used @hytro_ for his rehab blood flow restriction strength & recovery sessions, compex for neuromuscular electrical stimulation to fire up the Quads and all the rehab principles I learned from the wonderful guys @orkaperformance in Canada 🇨🇦 We used @vald_performance muscle strength testing to guide when to progress the rehab into the next phase of the journey. Now Joe is back on the Gaelic pitch doing what he loves best, putting on his GAA jersey, tormenting defences and scoring for fun. Rehabilitation can be a difficult journey but when it’s done correctly the outcome can be beautiful. Great to do this work with such a young professional talent, his dedication, discipline and attitude are a credit to any team. If you or a team mate are having upcoming knee surgery dont be afraid to DM us here in the clinic 🤙🔥🔥 #dundalkosteopathyclinic #kneesurgery #kneepainrelief #kneerehab #kneepain

Travel training’s secret weapon?

BFR (Blood Flow Restriction)

If you’re on the road a lot like me and train in different environments you need to make the most of limited equipment and training opportunities while travelling.

I increase effectiveness with @hytro_ Blood Flow Restriction Garments.

The concept? STRESS ➡️ FLUSH ➡️ REPERFUSE.

Partially restricting blood flow, BFR creating a hypoxic environment in the working muscles, encouraging earlier recruitment of higher-threshold motor units and accelerating metabolite accumulation.

This encourages Greater local metabolic stress and fatigue at lower external workloads.

Release the pressure and blood flow rapidly returns, restoring oxygen delivery and helping clear accumulated metabolites.

Today’s conditioning session:

* 2 min WORK — BFR applied
* 2 min RECOVERY — pressure released
* × 8 rounds
* 32 minutes total

Looking to target muscular endurance and fatigue resistance without needing extreme intensity.

Less external load. More local muscular stress.

A versatile tool for priming, resistance training and conditioning, with recovery applications.

A PhD and years in the Premier League got me into lots of rooms, but they didn’t necessarily make me useful.

Building Hytro has put me in front of hundreds of coaches, athletes and leaders across different sports and organisations. On that journey I’ve learned that people generally aren’t interested in what I’ve done unless it helps them with something they’re trying to achieve.

Our work with NASA is cool AF, but what does that mean to an NFL coach trying to get their players ready for Sunday?

Leading that conversation with NASA would be a flex. Instead, taking the time to understand a coach’s problem first, then sharing something we learned through our work with NASA that helps them solve it, gives them a reason to care.

I wasn’t always good at that. Earlier in my career, I spent too much time trying to demonstrate what I knew or what I’d achieved rather than understanding what someone else needed. Building a business has humbled me massively in that respect, and these days I try to listen a whole lot more than I speak.

I want to understand what matters to someone, what they’re trying to achieve and where my experiences can help. Sometimes that means solving a problem, challenging their thinking, sharing a mistake I’ve already made, or introducing them to someone better placed to help.

Next time you’re in a room with someone, I encourage you to ask one more question before offering your opinion.

$It looks like compression shorts. It trains like a loaded barbell. @hytro_ s wearable Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) tech is now used by more than half of NHL teams heading into the 2026–27 season — and the science behind it is wild. A built-in strap restricts blood return flow to the limb during light exercise, triggering the same strength and recovery signals as heavy lifting, at a fraction of the joint load. The results: up to a 74% reduction in muscle soreness and a 23% faster return to play, backed by a patent through 2040 and six active PhD research programs studying the tech. From pre-game activation to post-game recovery, it’s built for a sport that doesn’t give athletes room to accumulate extra wear and tear.
