MLS Next Midfield Session ⚽️

The best midfielders don’t just work hard—they work with purpose. Every touch, every movement, and every decision matters. Today’s session focused on developing the technical quality, awareness, and composure needed to control the game from the middle of the pitch.

Train with intention. Play with confidence.

Pass and move. ⚽️

The game doesn’t stop after the pass, and neither should you. Creating angles, supporting teammates, and moving into space are what keep possession flowing and defenses guessing.

Simple movements. Better decisions. Faster play.

Finishing isn’t just about one shot. It’s about reacting, resetting, and being ready for the next opportunity.

This continuous finishing drill challenges players to stay sharp, move quickly, and finish under pressure—just like in a real game. By keeping the drill continuous, players are forced to finish when their legs are tired, simulating the moments in a match when fatigue sets in but quality still matters.

⚽ Multiple chances.
⚽ Quick decisions.
⚽ Tired legs.
⚽ Clinical finishing.

A great CAM knows when to create and when to distribute.

It’s not always about dribbling through defenders and taking the shot yourself. Sometimes, beating 1-2 players and lifting your head up opens the door to an even better option.

Finding space around the box and being a goal threat is important, but the ability to recognize and play the right pass is what separates good CAMs from great ones.

Center Mid Session ⚽️🇺🇸

The center midfielder is the engine of the team. Constantly scanning, creating angles, receiving under pressure, and connecting every phase of play.

Today’s session focused on first touch, body positioning, awareness, and decision-making — the details that separate good players from great midfielders.

Trust the process. Keep building. 📈

Too many players focus on what they’ll do after receiving the ball, which often leads to a poor first touch and makes the next action more difficult.

A great first touch starts with body shape. By opening up and taking the ball into space, players give themselves more time, control, and options.

Watch Ryan work on receiving with the correct body position, setting himself up for an easier return pass and better decisions.

It’s the same principle that made Sergio Busquets look effortless—his body shape always gave him options before the ball arrived. ⚽🔥
