From the sewing machine to the stage, and now to advertising! 🥹💛💙

The feeling of watching something you created with your own hands grow beyond what you imagined is unmatched. Every stitch had a purpose, and seeing this beautiful piece being celebrated is a reminder of why I love what I do. 🧵✨

This is more than just an outfit; it’s a piece of my passion, creativity, and hard work.

Welcome to Rough_Stitch foolina

After so much encouragement from friends, family and people who have seen what I create, I finally decided to give my sewing a space of its own.✂️

I’ve been creating, sewing, experimenting and learning along the way, and I thought it was time to share some of that journey with you.🧵

So, instead of keeping all my creations on my everyday Instagram page, I’m starting roughStitch a little space dedicated to the things I make, the ideas behind them, and everything that happens between the first stitch and the finished piece.👗

Some of the pieces I’ll be sharing here are things I’ve already created, and there’s plenty more to come.

Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to start this page.
This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to finally share my work with you.

Well... I finally did it! ❤️🧵

For a while, people have been encouraging me to create a page dedicated to the things I make. I kept thinking about it, and finally decided it was time to give my sewing and creations a little space of their own.

Welcome to Rough_Stitch fofolina ✂️

These are some of the pieces I’ve created along my sewing journey, each one made with love, creativity and, of course, plenty of stitching!

This page will be a place where I share my creations, the things I’m learning, the process behind the pieces and many more designs to come. 🥰

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me to start this page.

This is only the beginning...🪡

✨ STYLE FILES✨
NZ Cup, Christchurch: Part 2
🥝 More of the outfits spotted at @riccartonparkracecourse on Saturday ✨
🥝 It was fabulous to see the number of younger entrants stepping up and showing some serious style. It was also great to see a whole catwalk of well-dressed men giving each other some very hard-fought competition. This is definitely very encouraging!
🥝 It is also pleasing to see the inclusive nature of the competition. For the first time that I have seen at a FITF event (correct me if I’m wrong) a very fashion-forward look, which I would class as non-gendered due to its use of universal staples (shirt and pants) , won the Best Dressed Contemporary section (see photo 2).
🥝 Special mention must go to @zanetatedesign, the Fashions Coordinator (last photo), who has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to grow and improve the NZ Cup Week fashions at Riccarton Park. He has also gained the support of quality sponsors- so make sure you support them!!
🥝 A reminder that this event is open to international competitors as well. If you plan it well, pop in a week of enjoying the sights of NZ and consider a trip from whichever country you live in ✨
🥝 Please DM or comment if I need to add tags☺️

✨ STYLE FILES✨
NZ Cup, Christchurch: Part 1
🥝 The show must go on - rain, hail or shine!
🥝 What a day - Christchurch turned on its best weather performance yesterday. It started with sunshine and warmth, then progressed to wind, clouds, light rain and finally a LOT of hail!
🥝 Luckily, the NZ Cup Fashions is held safely undercover in a large marquee in a dedicated fashions precinct. This ensured that everyone who came to watch or compete (or enjoy the delicious catering) stayed dry, and the event was able to continue with just a minor pause so everyone could comment on the weather and take photos 🌨️
🥝 Many entrants turned up to compete in the Cup Fashions. There were a large number of discrete categories: contemporary, classic, menswear, millinery, finishing touches, ‘something old, something new’, and a sponsor style award. They finished with the supreme winner award, won by @gabbycashmore (photo 2). Gabby will represent Riccarton Park at the finals of the Ned Prix de Fashions at @ellerslieraces in March 2026.
🥝 This is the first of two posts featuring just some of the fashion I noticed around the venue - while it was still dry....

✨ STYLE FILES✨
Christchurch, NZ: Fashions in the Tea House at Riccarton Park
TAB Mile Day, Wednesday
🫖 I was thrilled to return to Riccarton Park for NZ Cup Week 2025. It was time to enjoy some more fashion from across the Tasman!
🫖 Wednesday is the first of two fashion events this week at Riccarton. The Wednesday event is held in the Tea House to the side of the course - a perfect venue which is protected from whatever weather Christchurch decides to throw at us!
🫖 I was joined on the judging panel by @lilycsimons (photo 1), former winner of the Ned Prix de Fashion, as well as Penny Wilson (photo 2) owner of @dyrbergkern_nz (check out their website for great accessories if you haven’t already done so!)
🫖 There were lots of different looks on show in the various categories being judged. It was also a lively crowd, making for a fun atmosphere!
🫖 On Saturday the stakes will be raised even higher, as the overall winner will earn a place in the finals of the Ned Prix de Fashion in March 2026 at @ellerslieraces
This time I will be enjoying time off from judging, instead watching from the sidelines and enjoying the High Tea catering 😋 (will there be donuts?!!)
🫖 Congratulations to Zane @zanetatedesign (also photo 2) for his continuing work as the fashions Coordinator for @riccartonparkracecourse . He does an excellent and often unacknowledged job year round.
🫖 Enjoy these photographs. Please DM or comment if I need to tag /acknowledge!
