Hiking isn’t always easy.

Some trails will feel effortless. Others will ask more of you than you expected.

And that’s part of the point.

There’s something powerful about standing at the beginning of a trail knowing it will challenge you, and choosing to go anyway.

You don’t always hike because it’s easy. Sometimes, you hike because you want to find out what you’re capable of.

MT KILIMANJARO 4.0

five times here. four times to the top.

there’s this idea that when you keep summiting, you get used to mountains… but for me, it’s never been that way. every time i go back, it feels like a completely new place. a whole new experience. the last time i saw this much snow was my very second time on kilimanjaro, and then again, four years later. same mountain, different world.

i left home for this climb knowing it would be something new, and that’s exactly why i keep going back.

this summit feels especially full. my first time here was a cute littleDNF; i didn’t make it. and somewhere along the way, i’ve learned it’s never really been about the summit. it’s the people, their journeys, the quiet, the chaos, the peace, and above all, the memories we carry way long after we leave.

kilimanjaro is still tough. it doesn’t get easier. it just meets you differently each time, and you meet it differently too.

this time we had everything. snow, sun. rain, wind, and so much joy. like lots of happiness. standing here, in a place that feels like both my office and my escape, sharing it with such incredible humans, that’s purpose to me.

i’m so honored to have led this team with @avi.expeditions. i’m so proud of each one of them. the strength, the courage, the way they showed up for themselves and for each other. we have memories for life, lessons we’ll carry to higher mountains, and accomplishments that are hard to even put into words.

to see people stand on peaks and become so fully happy; that’s everything.

and to myself, congratulations Agoro. amaze amaze amaze🙌🏾

thank you, mountain. thank you, nature, for receiving us, for showing us your beauty in all its forms. we will always come back, not because it’s the same, but because it never is🙏🏿✨

I’ve chased mountains long enough to know the peak is only a moment — fleeting, almost disrespectfully brief for the work it takes to get there.

But this one was different.

Because of who I stood and walked beside.

Just a group of humans who showed up — fully, honestly, tired, strong, uncertain, kind.

Guys-
We carried our own stories up that mountain.
Some loud, some unspoken.
And somewhere between the thin air and the long silences, something softened.
Guards dropped.
Laughter came easier.
Dance at the point of a camera.
Conversations in the dark.

It’s Not just that we made it to the top — but how we got there.

Slow steps.
Checking in on each other.
Letting someone lead
Letting yourself be led

There’s a kind of wealth in that.
And it’s Rare and Unmanufactured.

I’ve done big mountains.
I’ve stood on technical ground,
But this reminded me — the people you climb with will always matter more than the summit itself.

To @avi.expeditions and team — thank you for your honesty, your quiet strength, your laughter in the cold, your presence when it counted.

This is the part that stays.

MT KILIMANJARO HIKE, DONE✅

Yesterday, we stood on the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro after four steady days on the mountain. 🏔️💪🏾.
It was a 5-day journey that gave us a bit of everything, rain, sun, wind, even snow, but through it all, we kept moving forward together. We took our time, listened to our bodies, and showed up for each other in the small ways that really matter. There was a lot of laughter, some dancing along the way, and also quiet moments where everyone just settled into the experience.

Some parts felt light, others really pushed us, but having the right people around you makes all the difference. By the time we reached the summit, it wasn’t just about getting to the top, it was about the consistency, the support, and the shared effort that got us there.

We’re really grateful to this team for trusting us with this climb, and to our Tanzania crew and guides who supported us every step of the way and made the whole journey feel safe and possible. For now, we’re just taking it all in, the mountain has been so good to us, and we’re carrying those memories with us to many more mountains ahead. Forever proud of this super Team!💪🏿🙌🏿

@avi.expeditions said, "Three peaks, one hike," and I said, "Let's try." The last time I was on Table Mountain years ago, I was having a bad day, lol!

This trip was beautiful. The weather was friendly at the start, then turned into hail and rain as we went down Rhino Hill. As usual, the Aberdare beauty can never be described enough in words; the best way to see it is to be there in person.

trail guiding days

i have been to Kenze many times now. it’s always different. most times very dry. it’s a very hot trail as well. we got rain just once on the times i went before this but it was still dry enough to walk on the river beds. i had another chance to explore the trail with @avi.expeditions community yesterday.

there has been a lot of rain lately. never seen the river itself but getting a different experience of this trail with flowing water was a beautiful experience for me. gives me a renewed appreciation of how one single trail can have many things to offer. i have never used the same route to access the river bed. love to switch things up many times to explore some more and appreciate the experience as well.

it was lovely leading the team and share the trails with friends of Avi Expeditions! looking forward to the next new loop that leads us here.
