Focusing on keeping the combination flowing while on the back foot and preparing to dodge or block any counters while partner develops trust in the high guard and closes distance. Two separate skills practiced in one drill. Understanding when to stay outside and how to continue landing attacks and understanding how to trust your guard to keep you safe while being the aggressor.

THESE FANS AIN’T LOYAL.

While I was in the corner I sat there in confusion on how diabolical the switch up was when the fan was originally cheering for Arnold and when they saw that Arnold couldn’t do anything to @iam3lie they switched up and cheered for Elie. This is madness 🤦🏽‍♂️

Another superb victory for @iam3lie improving to 6-0. Beautiful display of boxing, reflexes, power, precision and pressure. Stayed in control all three rounds against one of @dadestreetboxing veteran fighters. Elie continues to show improvements in his boxing and growth as a fighter. Stay tuned for more fight news in November and December. On to the next one.

When the opponent has good experience and head movement hunt that body. The head moves but the body is still there to attack. Once you land some good body shots the head will be available. Then that’s when you start mixing up the attack. Head, body or body and head.

Another reason I’m all for teaching my fighters switch hitting. Reaction time and having to advisement and reset is a thing of the past. If you’re able to switch your stance do so and continue the attack.

DSB 25 — T-MINUS 6 DAYS…

ONE OPPONENT OUT, ANOTHER ONE IN 😳‼️

After his original opponent pulled out, Arnold is now set to make his DSB return against a NEW and even bigger challenge.
Without hesitation, he accepted the matchup and is ready to step back into the ring.

Standing across from him will be Elie, a tough, fast, and experienced fighter making his DSB DEBUT on October 17th. With multiple fights under his belt, Elie is coming in looking to make a statement and prove himself in front of the DSB crowd. 👀

Both fighters have experience. Both are LOCKED IN.

You see us drill it now see it in action. Both @nicky_abello11 and @iam3lie utilize what they drill in practice over to the ring against other competitors. Again drill the skills that pays the bills.

This drill is to counter the jab of the opposite stance. So if you’re orthodox you will work with a southpaw and if your southpaw you will work with an orthodox fighter. This drill helps you understand how to take away their jab by countering their shot as they throw their jab.

Now most southpaws are use to fighting orthodox fighters. So this drill tends to be easier for the southpaw. If you are an orthodox fighter and have a hard time with southpaws try out this drill.

This counter has been one of my favorite counters to teach southpaws ever since Pacquiao used it against De La Hoya. Shoot the 2 in between the jab then follow up with a 1,2. Especially as a shorter southpaw this is a great way to close distance and take the jab away from the taller orthodox fighter.

What are your thoughts on teaching fighters to fight in both stances?

Now I know a lot of old school coaches are against this but hear me out on my reasoning why I’m a fan. Also, before getting on some key points there’s only a select few I teach to fight in both stances and most I train in both stances. Both are completely different arguments.

- Training in both stances i highly recommend because they have some big benefits such as mobility, coordination, and it helps keep from building any imbalances you will get from training in one stance. 2nd benefit to training in both stances it keeps learning how to box challenging and fun.

- Now fighting in both stances is for the select few. But, one of the reasons I’m a big fan is the body shot opportunities it opens up when knowing how to fight in both stances. When facing an orthodox fighter that rear uppercut to the body from a southpaw stance is deadly. Also, laterals are easier to transition to when you can fight in both stances. Now don’t get it twisted I don’t recommend everyone doing it off rip. Take a couple years to master one and than throw in the other ONLY IF your coordinated enough and UNDERSTAND the benefits and openings each stance provides against the opponent.

Feint to see what the plan to counter you with. Once you make the read be prepared to counter their counter. Chess not checkers. Plan ahead to stay ahead of your opponents move.
