Kelvin “KD” Durham has already left his mark on HBCU football. A standout quarterback who brought a winning mentality to Johnson C. Smith University in 2025, Durham helped lead the Golden Bulls to their first CIAA Football Championship since 1969, earning 2025 CIAA Football Championship MVP honors after throwing for 285 yards and accounting for three touchdowns in the title game. He was also named JCSU Football’s 2026 Most Valuable Player at the Smitty Awards.

Now, KD is turning his experience into impact from the other side of the game. Returning to JCSU as an Offensive Analyst, he’s beginning the next chapter of his football journey — developing, teaching and helping build the next generation of Golden Bulls. And what better way to start than with a victory!

His first victory as a coach came this weekend as JCSU defeated Albany State 27–7 in the 2026 Black College Football Hall of Fame “Clash at the Classic” at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. From leading the offense to helping develop it — the journey continues.

We have closed out our quarterback room with the addition of Kelvin Durham!

The 6'3", 211 lb signal caller was a three-year starter at Fort Valley State University before playing his final season in 2025 at Johnson C. Smith University.

Durham earned both 1st Team All-SIAC and 1st Team All-CIAA honors in a career that produced 8,608 passing yards with 78 touchdowns, and another 494 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground

This fall he led JCSU to their first CIAA Championship win since 1969, en route to performing in the prestigious Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans this February where he was responsible for a touchdown pass.

Welcome to the team Kelvin!
