// end-of-year APPRECIATION POST // As this year marks a huge milestone in my life, I want to dedicate this post to giving thanks to these very special people who have helped me in transitioning to a new life in a whole new country.
The first half of the year was tough as I have to come to terms with failed expectations, given all my efforts over the last 4 years spilled over my obsession wt pursuing the "American Dream". Once I set foot on a stranger's land a world away from my home, I was filled with eagerness to explore this new land. I started taking headlong plunges into going on so many adventures. Pretty sure half of the things on my bucket list that I have compiled for 18 years of my life were checked off in just a few months. (One of those is gaining weight btw which I gracefully achieved wt 14 pounds 😬)
I was actually taken aback that I did not end up a hermit filled wt self-hate oof. Now I have a family who join me for lunch n dinner every single day and literally look after me so I would not do anything stupid. Truly cannot express enough gratitude to new people I met (it's completely so spontaneous how our lives crossed). It's weird how I could see lifetime friendships with whom I just met for 3 months. Guess I am just extremely lucky.
As I embark on this journey, I found myself at ease, not because I did not encounter any challenges, but bc I have these people by my side, bc I constantly indulge myself in adventures for self-growth and so it is fulfilling to lead such a life.
Before this lengthy (insta only allows much 🤦‍♀️) post becomes a scramble (wait, oops), I want to remind myself to be mindful (slow down, be patient, and live in the moments), self-care (daily routine of sports/new experience and daily dose of being mindfucked), be caring and loving to others, take a break from setting too high of expectations and obsession wt planning, and last but not least, say yes before knowing how. Sometimes the best things come to you in the way you did not expect or intend. Embrace yourself with new challenges and adventures to come and be strong.
It is now minute 22 of the first day of a new decade back home. Happy new year everyone!
