Whose story is it?🖋️
4th September, 6:30 PM
Lamakaan, Hyd

Whose story is it?🖋️

Hyderabad Book Trust in association with BARC (B R Ambedkar Reading Circle) invite you for an event called 'Whose story is it?'. The event explores the several questions of what makes a story a Dalit story? Who gets to write a Dalit story? When we write Dalit stories who are we writing for?

Join us for a breezy evening as we unpack these questions through a series of programs beginning with a performance of dramatized reading of characters from M. Suguna Rao's book 'Punurutthaanam' presented by Sri Vamsi Matta.
In the reading, the characters of the book step out of the pages to find the man who wrote them and ask him 'why did you write me the way you did? Who are you?'

The performance will be followed by the book launch of 'Punurutthanam : An anthology of Dalit stories' by M. Suguna Rao. The event will proceed into a panel discussion on 'What is a Dalit Story?' delivered by Gogu Shyamala, M Suguna Rao and Charan Parimi. The talk will be moderated by Ravali P.

The event will be held at Lamakaan, Road no. 1, Banjara Hills Hyderabad, on Sept 4, 2026, evening 6:30 pm onwards.
