but WHY is getting good mail this fun. 🍋💌

July was giving Italian summer. Sardines. Lemons. Stripes. Gorgeous art from @boundaryandthorn . And then @oliverootsllc came in with a lemon scent so yes, the mail smelled good too.

For real. Look at this little envelope.

This is why we are obsesses with our Mail Club. We get to take an artist everyone loves from our markets, run with their world a little bit, and make something that feels really freaking special to open. It’s a little like our market in the mail.

And every month is completely different but always curated in an obsessive amount. Just like we do at @notyourmamascraftmarket

So if you’ve been watching these thinking wait…why am I not getting this?

Excellent question. 👀💌

Get yourself on the next envelope. Link in bio.

I really want to go back to a time when I didn't know every single thought everyone had, especially on the political front. I honestly don't think I used to think about the president outside of those annual State of the Union speeches. They were doing their job. That's all I cared about.

I will always have a love/hate relationship with technology, though I’m thankful for the boundaries I’ve set and maintain. I haven't had a notification enabled in years, and my aggressive bedtime settings completely lock down my apps.

I still appreciate social media for what it is. Sure, the social aspect has decayed as people stop engaging with actual words, but I love getting inspiration for new travel spots or local restaurants.

Last week, however, was just weird. It started off beautifully with plenty of nature time before the heat settled in, but then the Canadian wildfire smoke rolled through and I canceled yet another volunteer gardening day. It's always fascinating to see how people react to being told to stay indoors or consider wearing a mask.

Driving Friday morning to meet a friend for matcha, I saw an alarming number of people jogging, cycling, and walking their dogs in air quality that was literally double the hazardous levels we had back in 2023. My eyes and throat were burning just walking from my car to the coffee shop.

I don't know what it is. Did they miss the news? Do they just hate their lungs? Is it a defiance thing? It’s like Covid permanently broke human logic. I will never understand humanity, but they sure do keep things disappointing 😞

Thankfully, Saturday brought enough rain to clear out the atmosphere and the sky put on an absolute performance with some stunning clouds! I got my favorite matcha. A book found me. And I watched The Invite and heard everyone genuinely laughing out loud! I'm not a romantic comedy fan but glad I saw it.

Enjoy this week's top 20 photos. My favorite surprise was discovering the morning spiderwebs at the Whetstone prairie. The dew made them sparkle, proving the park has some incredible master weavers at work! Go check them out!

It has been such a good and grounding week for my top 20.

It started with the beautiful collective energy of a group meditation at Clintonville Books, followed by celebrating @norma.dodge.9 101th birthday. I stopped by the UA farmers market, caught a stunning 6a rainbow, got lots of gardening time in, made cold brew teas, and had plenty of authentic conversations over great matcha. I even took a hooky day with a friend for a road trip to a lavender farm and Yellow Springs, and capped the week off with a movie at Studio 35.

I went into Disclosure Day expecting a classic Spielberg alien movie, but it completely flipped the genre on its head by turning into this deeply spiritual journey. The brilliance (and surprise) of the film is that the aliens themselves are secondary. The real story is about our relationship with faith, truth, and one another, holding up a mirror to our collective soul.

The spiritual core anchors beautifully around a former nun who is terrified that proving the existence of extraterrestrials will shatter people's beliefs. When she seeks comfort in her old parish, a sister offers an expansive, beautiful perspective..."Why would he make such a vast universe, yet save it only for us?" It completely reframes the unknown.

Everything builds toward the heart of the film, which delivers its most impactful line..."You didn't lose your faith. You lost faith in humanity." I feel that's relatable in today's society. It is a line that says so much about modern despair. The exhaustion does not come from a lack of belief in something greater, it comes from watching people hide from the truth, hoard information, and build fences.

When disclosure finally happens, it arrives as an act of pure grace. It is classic, contemplative Spielberg, reminding us that realizing we are not alone in the universe is ultimately a call to stop leaving each other alone down here. It is such a gorgeous movie, and it is definitely getting a rewatch soon.

The world needs more shared spaces right now. There is so much power in leaning into that collective energy, sharing stories, talking, and creating together ❤️
