I was reminded today that the Dove Awards are tonight. Which got me thinkin and going down memory lane . 20 years ago i produced a rock band called Decemberadio, the record won the Dove award for Rock album of the year 20 years ago and was also nominated for a Grammy! (we lost to Jonny Lang)The big song on the record was called Drifter which was nominated for song of the year. We recorded at Southern Tracks Studio in Atlanta. It was the first time of many times to come working with the incredible Engineer and my good friend Tom Tapley. The band set up in the big room all playing together live, the energy was amazing, the band was so good and loaded with crazy talent which made my job even more fun. The band was @iambrianbunn @speedyreedy81 @booned and @ericmiker . I met these guys when they were like 19 years old , we spent a few years developing what the sound was which led to a record deal and for me to this day some of my best friends and brothers. The record was mixed by the talented wizard @shanedwilson and mastered by Richard Dodd. Good luck tonight to all those nominated . @gmadoveawards @drock777

Quick trip to Nashville for the funeral of my friend and webmaster, @jbuckford . Buck was truly one of a kind. Son of the late great Tennessee Ernie, he grew up in and around showbiz since the day he was born. Family man, actor, writer, musician, martial artist, tech wizard, raconteur, humorist, and many, many other things, Buck was an all around Renaissance man in the truest sense. And he gave me so much love and encouragement over the last couple years, going to pay my respects was the least I could do for that man. Thank you Buck, I will never forget you. 🙏🏻

Also caught up with a bunch of friends while I was out there; some old, some new. Paid my respects to Dolly Parton (thx for the tip @danarobbins118 ), ate at Elliston Place Soda Shop for the first time in decades, heard some honky tonk on Broadway and did some vinyl shopping as well. Nashville sure has changed since I first started going out there 20+ years ago, and I’m not sure it’s all for the better. The photo I took of the mule drawn buggy next to the driverless car is the perfect metaphor for how things are changing. Needless to say, Ernest Tubb would not recognize downtown these days. 😳
