CommUNITY - in case you missed last week’s episode of #SoundTravels with @freshkils on @joltradio - the episode is live on our site and via @olasconola’s Mixcloud.

Toronto’s own JUNO-nominated producer, mix engineer, and MPC master has been a prolific driving force in the local music community.

Fresh Kils, born Andrew Kilgour, has deep roots in music that expand beyond the many crates he has dug through, to the studios he has worked in worldwide. This chat is abundant with insight, reflection and history - both of his career, and Canadian scenes as a whole.

We dive into the records that have shaped Kils’ life, his collaborative process, and creative philosophy, always tapping into the inner child on-stage and off.

Also: check Fresh Kils’ and @king___jus and @orebodymusic’s new EP, Work Hard II Retroactive. Launch show is happening October 14 @kolorsonqueen.

More to come with a special announcement from Kils later this month.

It feels good to be back in the circuit…because major life stuff happened. IYKYK.

It was 3 days full of festivities at @nlfb_festival and I pulled up as part of @icethaone’s squad on horn duties to play the main stage at Grace Hartman Amphitheatre and the Canvas Cabaret stage (which included a workshop/jam session with @shadkmusic, @orebodymusic, and @waahli).

Crew love:

The event exceeded my expectations and every one was so nice. I didn’t realize there was a large Francophone community in Sudbury, so shout out to those who tested my French-speaking capabilities. I was able to hold it down…for the most part. 😂 Thanks to everyone who screamed (and yelled D-A-D-D-Y!! 😂), fed us, gave us love (even the cops), the autographs/pics requested, and the great staff who ran the event smoothly and made us feel welcome. 🙏 @maxmoonunit, it was a hell of a run. Thanks for inviting us to your last time seated at the table. 🙏

Shad, it’s always a pleasure bumping into you…and this time, finally in a stage setting. His new single “Bars and BBQs” is out now and his forthcoming album “Start Anew” will be out on Halloween day. It was dope opening for you and workshop jammin’! 🙌

@djtlomusic, it’s crazy how I was reminiscing about 14 years ago, which was the first time I saw you with Shad at CMW alongside @janellemonae, @hannahgeorgas, and @hollerado (convinced to pull up then by @__mnmlst__). Now we finally meet in person. It was great real talks over food. Let’s get some work in the future. 🫡

To Ice and the band, thanks for putting up with my tomfoolery (I’m fun though 😁), including my antics of singing Anita Baker hits like “Same Ole Love (365 Days a Year)” and ”Sweet Love” in the vein of Michael McDonald, while trekking through. To those reading, pitch down Anita’s vocals…see where I’m coming from. 😂😂😂 Sharing the stage with y’all is good vibes. Thanks for the hilarious moments and adventures. Love y’all. ❤️

To the mosquitos that feasted on me, I’m glad you like how I taste. 😫
