It begins with unease. A background of dark, uncertain colour seeps out of the speakers, the sort of sound that makes you check whether someone has come into the room behind you. Over it, a crackling rhythm starts to fizz and spit like a fuse working its way through the dark, restless and slightly put out, like a landlord who has come about the rent. Within thirty seconds @iamconchis has dragged you into a room you didn't know you'd entered and can't imagine leaving. "It Will Only Hurt Once" is the third single from *Gravity*, and it is the most physically commanding thing she has done.

@iamconchis - Under Your Feathers

Finnish electronic alt-pop artist Conchis returns with “Under Your Feathers,” a quietly escalating piece of music that feels less like a conventional single and more like entering an infinite landscape.

Released on August 21, 2026, the track is the second glimpse of Gravity, Conchis’ forthcoming 12-track album, written during a period of profound physical collapse. Unable to use traditional creative tools, she composed the music entirely in her mind, constructing harmonies, melodies and rhythms in silence. The result is remarkably intimate, fragile and powerful.

“Under Your Feathers” builds around hopeful arpeggios and celestial synths, while haunting basslines and restrained percussion create a persistent sense of tension. Light and darkness constantly collide: moments of ascent are pulled back toward gravity, creating an atmosphere that feels simultaneously magical, ominous and deeply epic.

For listeners drawn to ambient, experimental electronics and adventurous songwriting, this track is an extraordinary experience. The sonic landscapes seem endless, revealing new details with every listen. The production is stunning, but the writing is what truly makes it special: adventurous, emotionally precise and genuinely avant-garde.

There is something in Conchis’ artistic vision that recalls the fearless world-building of artists such as Björk and Actress, while remaining unmistakably personal. Even the aesthetic surrounding the project feels carefully considered and immersive.

Conchis does not simply make electronic music; she creates spaces for the listener to disappear into.

Mouth open, ears wide. “Under Your Feathers” is an astonishing piece of contemporary electronic art.

Gravity arrives in fall 2026.

Neue Musik von @iamconchis | Text: @adrianprath

21.08.2026

- Redaktion
