“Smooth Operator” is my tribute to cinematographers, filmmakers, and the journey that shaped me—from the halls of the Howard University School of Communications to working on sets around the world.

It’s about discovering your craft, respecting those who came before you, embracing new technology, and never losing the passion that made you pick up a camera in the first place.

To every Howard filmmaker, every cinematographer chasing the perfect frame, every student pulling cable, pushing camera carts, building lighting setups, loading batteries, and dreaming of what’s next…

This one’s for you.

Special thanks to the teachers, classmates, mentors, crews, and collaborators who helped shape my path.

Keep creating. Keep learning. Keep telling stories.

And here it is — the finished product! 🎬✨
“Backing Away” — a scene written, filmed, and directed by @rcadellcook.
I truly enjoyed bringing this project to life alongside my babygirl @dboogieee23.
This experience only adds fuel to the fire, pushing me to keep grinding, stay focused, and work even harder on my acting journey. The work doesn’t stop. 💪🏽🔥

This effect you’re seeing is pretty remarkable. It uses depth estimation on the image; or in this case, video -combined- with interpolation that adapts to what’s visible in the scene. Essentially, you can choose what you want to isolate.

Here, we’re focusing on people.

As the drone flies overhead and passes over the crowd, the system identifies anywhere from 30 to 100 individuals from what’s available on the screen “pixels”.

The boxes you see highlight each person, shifting and reshaping in real time as they move. For those standing still, the boxes remain steady, but for anyone moving, the shapes adjust dynamically….even interacting when people cross paths.

I had a great time putting this together, and it’s definitely going to be a valuable tool for our current project.
