Once On This Island is one of the most beloved Tony award winning musicals by theater aficionados and was also written by the legendary, groundbreaking team that brought the world Ragtime! We couldn’t be more excited to share this treasure trove of a show with you at Birmingham Village Players opening Sept 18th and running thru Oct 4th. Get ready to experience all the feels when you witness Ti Moune, a peasant orphan, save a wealthy boy named Daniel as the island gods wager on whether love is stronger than death.

Tickets are available now at birminghamvillageplayers.com or click the link in our bio and come see why we tell the story!!

A little piece of Motown made its way to Martha’s Vineyard. 🌊✨

Grateful for the opportunity to step onto that stage with the Motown Hitsville Revue and bring this music to a whole new setting.

Some songs are timeless. Some moments remind you why you do this.

📍 Martha’s Vineyard

Still carrying the energy with me. ❤️

We hosted the inaugural Freedom Festival a week ago and I am still so excited about how it all came together. It was an honor to celebrate Juneteenth this way. We covered the Joy & Spinoza Green Space at Rouge Park with free food, fun, and resources for the community. It was Black. It was beautiful. It was befitting.

Thank you to our food vendors, including District 7’s very own, Moma G’s.

Thank all the talent who made the event a true cultural celebration– Khary Frazier, Tee Two Times, Terian Morrow and the Bese Saka Cultural Group, Eric Brown, Alise King, D.S.Sense, MyNameKaylen, Miranda Moy of Moy Hair Essentials, Darwinian Effinger of D’s Corner Unisex Salon, Kristina Reeves, Alanna Phillips, and the Cody Comets Drumline!

Thank you to all the city departments and community organizations for tabling.

Thank you to Council President James Tate, Pro Tem Coleman A. Young II, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Wayne County Commission Chairwoman Alisha Bell, and other officials for attending.

Let’s do it again next year!

When it comes to creativity and talent, Detroit has no shortage of it.

The Freedom Festival this Saturday, June 20th, at the Joy & Spinoza Green Space of Rouge Park, will highlight Detroit’s creativity through vocal performances by Eric Brown and Alise King, and spoken word performances by D.S.Sense and MyNameKaylen.

Warning: These performances may invoke feelings of nostalgia, connection to the community around you, and celebration of Black culture, Black art, and Black freedom.

Register at bit.ly/d7freedom and get ready for a good time
