You buy a ticket to a night you can’t Google. That’s the whole deal at a Sofar show. You say yes before you know a single name on the bill, then sit close enough to a stranger that their reaction becomes part of yours. When last did you go somewhere with no idea what was coming?

Grace Storm will be our featured poet on Zoom this week. #theredwheelbarrowpoetrycollective #poetry #openmic Grace Storm is a South African poet, performer, and theatre-maker whose work explores the intersections of grief, memory, love, and embodiment. Rooted in spoken word, movement, and storytelling, her performances invite audiences into intimate spaces where language meets the body and poetry becomes a lived experience. She is the author of Love & Other Stuff and the founder of The Cadence Initiative, a platform dedicated to creating original performance work that amplifies human connection through art. Her poetry often navigates themes of loss, healing, identity, and the quiet complexities of being human. Alongside her creative practice, she is an applied drama practitioner and doctoral researcher investigating grief as a poetic body, exploring how movement and poetic expression can help us make meaning of what cannot always be spoken. For Storm, poetry is both witness and refuge, a way of remembering, surviving, and returning to ourselves. As always, the reading by the featured poet will be followed by an open mic session for poets from the audience. Poets are welcome to read from their own work as well as from the work of a favourite poet. Meeting ID: 813 6429 6708 Passcode: poetry

THE INAUGURAL SITTING OF THE GABRIELLE GOLIATH PEOPLE'S TRIBUNAL at The Forge - JOHANNESBURG The inaugural sitting of the Gabrielle Goliath People's Tribunal brings together artists, activists, legal scholars, and cultural workers to confront a pressing question: what happens to democracy when artistic expression is silenced? Visual artist Gabrielle Goliath saw her work Elegy removed from South Africa's presentation at the Venice Biennale after the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture deemed a section grieving Palestinian lives "highly divisive" and "polarising." A high court bid to reinstate the project was dismissed. In response, Theatreduo & Co is convening People's Tribunal. This is a moral and public space built around ideas of artistic freedom. The work is as much a debate as it is a theatrical engagement. It is not a court of law. It is a space where communities, not institutions, judge the systems that silence them. The inaugural sitting at The Forge will be musically and visually driven, featuring song, spoken word, visual art, testimonies, and legal analysis.
