Huge love and major appreciation to the place we call home for our celebrations! 🏫🤘❤️

We have to take a moment to give a massive, roaring shoutout to Pierce College (@pierce_college)—Home of the Brahmas! 🐂🎓 Not only are they one of the absolute top community colleges in the San Fernando Valley—consistently paving the way for students transferring to powerhouse universities like UCLA and CSUN—but they also have a massive heart for the community! 🌟📈

Year after year, Pierce College has generously opened up their beautiful Woodland Hills campus, providing the perfect space for the Zawadi Cultural Collective to host our annual Juneteenth Celebration! ✊🏾✨

We are incredibly grateful for this phenomenal partnership and their continued dedication to uplifting culture, community, and education in the Valley. Thank you, Pierce College, for helping us make magic happen! 🖤❤️💚💛

“They Don’t Care About Us.” 🖤✊🏾

This piece is a tribute to the lives we’ve lost, the voices that continue to fight for justice, and the resilience of a community that refuses to be silenced.

I’m incredibly honored that “They Don’t Care About Us” received Honorable Mention in the Juried Exhibition at the Oye Oginga Art Pavilion during the Black Arts Festival.

If you’re at the festival July 10–12, stop by the Oye Oginga Art Pavilion to experience this piece in person.
