Your comedic energy, your passion for the people you care about, and your willingness to always dance like nobody is watching are just a few of the things that I love about you. What an incredible week at the 2026 African American Preaching Conference at @truettseminary !!!

It was a joy to serve others through teaching, and a gift to sit back and witness so many of my friends in ministry bless us through their preaching, teaching, scholarship, and gifts.

One of the great highlights was the absolute honor of spending time with our Legacy Award recipients, Dr. Cleophus LaRue and Dr. Cynthia Hale….two giants whose faithful witness has helped shape generations of preachers and the Black Church.

The Mantle. The Message. The Movement.

I leave this week full! Grateful for the fellowship, inspired by the legacy, and even more committed to the work God has called me to do at the intersection of the Church and the Academy.

There is still work to do. There are still preachers to form, churches to serve, scholarship to produce, and a sacred tradition to steward for the next generation.

Grateful to be a small part of what God is doing through the African American preaching tradition. 🙏🏾

Thank You @tyshawngardner_ for your stellar leadership!

We’re still feeling the energy from our 2026 Choose Healthy Life Capitol Hill Day! Our President & CEO @revkimberlylwilliams led the day in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, bringing Congressional leaders, clergy, health experts, and our corporate partners together around better health outcomes for our communities.

We were honored to welcome @reprashida , who joined us on Capitol Hill for a third straight year and took the podium to address the room.

Our Founder & Board Chair @dfraser203 and CHL Clergy Council Co-Chair Bishop @leahdaughtry welcomed everyone and shared community, faith, and health insights with the room.

Our panel brought together CHL New York Clergy Leader @iamlawrenceaker, CHL Chief Strategy & Operations Officer @yolanda_d_m, CHL Dean of Education @dr.melissaclarke, @que.english, and Pamela Barnes of Elm Capitol Group for a conversation on the Health Access Innovation Act, coverage for anti-obesity medications, and 340B Drug Pricing Program reform.

A huge thank you to our Corporate Leadership Council: @questdx, @siemensfoundationusa, @novonordiskus, @pfizerinc, @elilillyco, @genentech, @bristolmyerssquibb, and @phrma. A special thank you to Bristol Myers Squibb for sponsoring this year’s Capitol Hill Day.

Thank you also to the clergy who traveled in and the Congressional staffers who joined us. See the full photo gallery, now live in our bio!

This week during #CBCFALC, National Action Network leadership participated in the Choose Healthy Life Congressional Leadership Roundtable on Capitol Hill, focused on “Ending HIV & Protecting Public Health in Black America.”

NAN Vice President of Religious Affairs and External Relations Rev. Nelson B. Rivers III, NAN Manager of Religious Affairs and External Relations Trudy Grant, and Rev. Lawrence Aker III, Choose Healthy Life New York Clergy Leader/NAN Board Member, were among faith, community and congressional leaders gathered at the U.S. Capitol to discuss ending the HIV epidemic, expanding access to health care and protecting public health in Black communities.

NAN continues to work with Choose Healthy Life to mobilize the Black Church around health equity and ensure our communities have access to the information, resources and care they need.

During Covid my girls received IPSY gift boxes every month. They totally enjoyed being the recipients of unknown gift items. After receiving their June 2020 gift box, they thought other women would also enjoy the receiving the same and wondered how they could share the joy. So, we commenced thinking about how we could share this experience with women experiencing transitional housing.

The girls researched the needs of women in temporary housing facilities and then asked various groups for donations. They purchased items they assessed the women needed and or liked. Next, they prepared the gift bags, and located a housing facility for women in our neighborhood.

Unfortunately, Karina had to return home before we could make this year’s delivery. Last week, however, Nyla made another delivery to one of our neighborhood facilities before she returned to school.
