🛗 GOING UP?

I just stepped into THE ELEVATOR series with @iamnellthecreator and I don’t exactly know where we’re going.

That’s exactly what happened to author, creative director and visual storyteller Nell Ledbetter. One ordinary elevator ride sparked an extraordinary idea—an idea that would become The Elevator Series, a sci-fi saga more than 20 years in the making.

Now, Nell is stepping into CALL ME WYLLISA for a conversation about storytelling, imagination, creativity, technology and the power of bringing the worlds in your head to life.

And she’s the woman pushing the elevator button on a whole new way of experiencing a story. 🚪📚🎬
So the question is…

What floor are YOU going to?

INTRODUCING SCI-FI AUTHOR, CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND VISUAL STORYTELLER NELL LEDBETTER. @iamnellthecreator

🚪✨ What happens when an elevator ride takes you somewhere you never expected to go?

Today on CALL ME WYLLISA, I’m sitting down with the incredibly talented Nell Ledbetter—author, creative director and visual storyteller behind The Elevator Series.

Nell doesn’t simply write stories—she brings them to life. From cinematic book trailers and compelling graphics to digital content and immersive visual concepts, she is creating a whole world around her storytelling.

Her groundbreaking sci-fi series began with a simple elevator ride and evolved into a story more than 20 years in the making. The Draft, the first book in The Elevator Series, takes readers on a journey of survival, hope, family, redemption and resilience.

But our conversation goes beyond the book. We’re talking about creativity, technology, storytelling, representation and what it means to build a world from an idea that refuses to let you go.

Been ruminating on my Barz & Boardz era lately.

This was from my Barz & Boardz series—a space where I got to play keys, rap, and collaborate all in one place. Looking back, I realize how much of a living garden this format is for me.

If you’ve ever wondered what my live show is like… it’s this same creative spirit, just with a band and a room full of people.

This Saturday I’m bringing that energy to Birds of a Feather at 7 PM with John Davis on drums, Chris Lowery on trumpet, and Nell Ledbetter joining us on vocals.

It’s a night built around choosing joy, and I’d love to see you there.

🎟️ Ticket link in bio (advance tickets recommended—it’s an intimate room).

The Draft is book one of a new series. A high stakes survival story set in the remains of Los Angeles. Monica Harris steps off an elevator with her son and three strangers and enters a world she doesn’t recognize. No time for questions. Just survival.

I haven’t read it yet. But I’m already sold.

And can we talk about the marketing for a second? A survival kit. A book trailer. A full immersive experience before you even open the first page.

Nail the Creator has completely changed the way I think about what book marketing can be. Go find her. Watch the trailer. You’ll understand.

Book review is coming. Stay close. 👀🤍
