« Confidence has no edge. It’s not what you wear, but how you wear it. People might stare but they don’t see the years, they see the energy. It’s your inner glow that makes you stand Out. » G. D. Meet Régis Gnahoua.

He has been fascinated by images since childhood.
But it was 2019, at the Rencontres Photographiques in Arles, that something shifted. The desire became a need. A necessity.

For Régis, every photograph begins with disorder, the noise and movement of the street, and ends with a story. Humanity in its environment is at the centre of his work, and composition is never an afterthought. Each frame must be aesthetically whole, refined, complete. Music is constantly present in his mind during a shoot, merging instantly with the scene in front of him.

His subjects are still or in motion. His themes span architecture and street life. But what connects everything is the same quiet insistence, that a photograph must tell a story.

“Form is paramount for me… and light is its sweet fragrance.” by Henri Cartier-Bresson, a phrase Régis carries with him.

His inspirations are Charlie Chaplin, Vivian Maier, Nina Simone, Chopin and cinema.

Welcome to the NOIR Gallery, Régis. 🖤
