NYC! ‘ We Live in Cairo’ the musical at @nytw79 is officially open! We’ll be running shows until November 24th, Ticket link in my bio.

This show, made up of a full Arab cast, writers and director is about 6 friends (and some lovers) trying to figure out how the hell to achieve their shared goal of liberation for their people, and the intimate yet heart wrenching conflict that ensues as they endeavor this massive responsibility.

This show is this moment we are in now as a people that want freedom and liberation for Palestine, for Lebanon, for Sudan and beyond. Can we learn to harvest power together? Can we learn to engage in generative conflict together remembering that we are working toward the same goal of liberation? @eroticsofliberation reminded me through their work that conflict is intimate, conflict is meant to be generative and not everybody deserves to be in conflict with you. May we use discernment in who we invite into these spaces of generative conflict.

I invite you into our sacred space, ya allllllah the cast is soooo stunning and stupid talented and I love them deep. THE MUSIC of this show. It is what our hearts need right now @frereslazour truly wrote something so beautiful and I’m honored they and @taibsm allowed me to be a part of it.

Come meet @nadinahassan @johneljor @ali.louis @drewelhamalawy @m_karadsh , they are magic. I’ll see you at the theater habayeb ❤️‍🔥
