Bits & bobs 👽🪐✨

Taking a break from social media has always been important to me as it helps me reset & recharge both physically & mentally.

If I’m inconsistent on here please don’t think I’m ignoring you, scrolling past your posts or not engaging anymore… it’s because I’m using Instagram less (or not at all) & just taking a break from it all 🫶🏼

I’m still going through tons of DM’s, please bear with… 🫠

This year has been incredibly tough & I’ve really struggled to keep up with certain things, not only because of my physical & mental health & wellbeing but because I’ve been working on some stuff which is taking up a lot of my time (in a good way!) 🧿✨

As always, thank you so much for all the love & support. It means the world to me & it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed 🤍

Them: “What did you get for Christmas?”
Me: “Let down. I got let down” 🥲

Behind all the smiles, selfies & kitty cuddles is sadness & disappointment. Here’s why…

Back in June, I had an emergency appointment with my consultant regarding my rare condition. I’ve been on the same medication for the last 15+ years because nothing else was available.

About 3 years ago, new medication for FCS was finally approved but because there still wasn’t enough evidence on how well it works, my consultant didn’t want me to try it just yet.

In June, I was told it has worked wonders for other FCS patients & they told me I can start it too. Finally, some hope, hearing it actually works really well & the fact that I’ve been waiting over 30 years for this.

I got referred to St. Thomas’ Hospital & had my initial consultation booked for September. I had to wait 3 months but that was ok, after 30+ years, a 3 month wait seemed fine.

Unfortunately, I missed my appointment as I was sick & was admitted to hospital twice in Sept.

They sent me a new appointment. December 13th. Another 3 months.

A few days before my appointment, I received a letter & a text from St. Thomas’ saying they’ve had to reschedule. No reason. Just that they’ve cancelled my appointment & they’ve rescheduled it to April 24th… APRIL 😢

The reason I feel so let down isn’t all this waiting… it’s because I had an EMERGENCY appointment all the way back in June because I have been struggling so much & it’s only getting worse. My GP has prescribed me morphine so I can manage the pain at home & to help me stay out of hospital. From being priority patient to being put on a shelf 😢

There is so much in my life that I am grateful for, like all the things you see me post about on my stories.. but this is real life. So yes, I did have a wonderful Christmas with my beautiful little family but I also feel extremely let down 😞
