First House set. First time on straight sticks. No laptop. 2:30 AM closing set on a Thursday.

The first 20 minutes were definitely a learning curve—off grids, sync left on from the DJ before me, and adjusting in real time. But that’s exactly what made this one important.

There’s so much room for me to grow in House, from the way I program to the way I mix, transition, and read the room. That’s what excites me most.

I want to keep putting myself in spaces that challenge me, because getting uncomfortable is part of getting better.

Shoutout to my Vegas support system for always being behind me, and especially @jay.kelii and @dessco__ for helping me get my grids right and realizing beat sync was still on from the DJ before me. Also, thank you to @alanisrose_ for connecting me with @tempotakeover_ @bauhaus.vegas and helping open the door for this opportunity.

This is only one sound, one milestone, and the beginning of a much bigger journey.

Mentor Institute 2026 was a reminder of what happens when the people who pour into young people get poured into, too. 💙

Mentors, staff, alumni, facilitators, and leaders from across the GOGO community came together for three days of music, reflection, learning, planning, and connection.

We heard from students and alumni, explored the GOGO Funnel, reflected on Circles of Support, practiced new tools for Artistic Time, learned alongside @artsednewark, and made space to imagine what’s possible for the young people we’ll serve this year.

Plus, a surprise exclusive performance by @common?! What a moment. 🔥

Thank you to every mentor who showed up fully and said yes to growth, community, and the work ahead. The next step starts here. 🎶

my astrologist (yea my astrologist😏) told me that i needed to be around my friends as often as possible. she told me my friends would help me align; to remind me who i am. she told me to travel, that i was all water and that this was a season for laughs and love.

so it was, that june was a promised land of magic and miracles and milk and honey; of doing things i’d never done, and getting what i’d never gotten. so i guess she was right.

(she also told me to watch my sugar. but life been too sweet.)

This month, we’re showing love to one of Miami’s (by way of NYC's) finest, DJ @iamspinelli. 🎧

Harlem-bred and Miami respected, Spinelli brings incredible energy, authenticity, and intention into every space she enters. As a DJ mentor with @guitarsoverguns, she creates an environment where students feel supported, confident, and free to fully express themselves through music.

Spinelli describes her mentorship style as “structured, consistent, and fun,” balancing accountability with creativity and joy. For her, excellence means giving young people the space to discover and share who they are, whether through DJing, conversation, journaling, or simply being heard.

She also reminds us that mentorship is a two-way street. “Working with these students has helped me grow too,” she shared, reflecting on the ways mentorship has connected her to her own inner child and personal growth.

One thing about Spinelli, she always shows up real, grounded, and with the best energy. It’s truly an honor to have her as part of the GOGO family. Thanks, Spin! 🩷

Another unforgettable Spring Jam Fest in the books. 🎶

On May 15th, @guitarsoverguns mentees from across North Dade took the stage at the @miamibeachbandshell for a night filled with live music, creativity, community, and powerful student performances.

Every student brought their all to the stage and made us incredibly proud. Watching their confidence, growth, and joy shine through each performance was a reminder of why this work matters so much.

Huge thank you to Asher Raphael, Miami Beach Band Shell and all of our sponsors and supporters for helping make this experience possible for our young people.
