We had cracks in caftans, jokers in jammies and winds and wine!

We just can’t get enough of mahjong and the friendships we’ve made! What a great relaxing weekend! I love these memories!

I believe it is our obligation..

to heal ourselves from our unresolved trauma in order to break the unhealthy patterns for future generations.
Studies show that people who grow up in a negative home environment are highly likely to perpetuate the same patterns in their own families. This may not always be the case but if one does not do any work to change these patterns we most likely will follow suit.
This quote by Terry Real sums it up: “Family dysfunction rolls down from generation to generation like a fire in the woods, taking down everything in its path until one person in a generation has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to their ancestors and spares the children that follow. “
But how can we change our familial patterns? You can CHOOSE different behaviors than those you experienced in your family. You can stop negative patterns from flowing downstream with education, focused effort and help from others. This is know as becoming a Transitional Character.
Dr. Carl Broderick coined this term and described it this way: “A transitional character is a person who, in a single generation changes the entire course of a lineage. Who somehow finds a way to metabolize the poison and refuses to pass it on to their children. They break the mold. Their contribution to humanity is to filter the destructiveness out of their own lineage so that the generations downstream will have a supportive foundation upon which to build productive lives”. .
@mastinkipp suggest these ways to become a transitional character:
1). Validate
2). Empathize
3). Connect
4). Repair
5). Set new limits .

Do you ever get stuck in a rut? I DO!!

I go to the same grocery stores, gym, walks and restaurants over and over again. 💃
But ya know, it’s good to shake it up and get those brain cylinders firing 💥 differently!

So when my Bestie 👯 comes to visit, I get out of my old routine and do something new. Like going to Drag Queen Bingo @hamurgermarysweho 🎰
It’s hilarious fun, gets me out of my box of life, and gets me back into my Right Brain, where all the creativity lives.
