A whole lifetime in Bangkok, and a first I’ll always remember. 🥹🙏 This was my first time witnessing the annual Vijayadashami procession from Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, also known as Wat Khaek, on Silom Road. On 20 October 2026, the grand Navratri celebrations brought eight ceremonial processions through the streets, including sacred images of Hindu deities. And we were there to witness it. ✨ I’ve always lived in Thailand, and I hadn’t experienced this celebration in quite this way before. Watching it unfold here, so far from India, made me feel deeply connected to my heritage. 🇮🇳🇹🇭 The beautiful procession, the devotion and the people coming together made me feel honoured to be there. Thank you to the community that keeps these traditions alive. I’ve lived in Bangkok my whole life… and this was my first time seeing Silom like THIS. 🥹✨ Walking through the streets during the celebrations, we kept stopping to take it all in—the beautiful representations of Hindu deities, the decorations and the people coming together in devotion. 🙏 Seeing a familiar part of our city transformed for Navratri and Vijayadashami felt incredibly special. Thailand is home. India is part of my heritage. One hand to hold. So many yellow flags to follow. 💛🥹 From shrine visits and street-food stalls to mall food stops and supermarket discoveries… this was our little journey through Bangkok’s Vegetarian Festival. 🌱🇹🇭 Ten days of sharing our finds, wrapped up in seven seconds. We came for a little food wander… and kept finding another stall. 😂💛 Chinatown during the Vegetarian Festival is such a feast for the senses! Yellow flags overhead, sizzling pans, busy food stalls and so many reasons to stop and look. 🤤🏮 Come along on our evening wander through Bangkok’s Chinatown..past glowing temple decorations, freshly fried snacks and stalls displaying those little เจ signs. 🌱 What we love is how the food and festival atmosphere come together. Between the vendors preparing their dishes and people choosing their next bite, there’s so much to take in beyond what’s on your plate. ❤️ Our approach? Not every เจ food stop ends with a meal… sometimes it starts one! 😂💛🍲 Next on our Vegetarian Festival supermarket tour: MAKRO, Bangkok. 🛒 This visit was all about the ingredients—with yellow เจ flags dotted across displays of dried goods, seasonings and curry pastes for cooking at home. 🌱 We spotted jay green curry paste and other curry-paste options among the colourful packets. A different side of the festival from the ready-to-eat street food we’ve been sharing! Because celebrating through food doesn’t always mean heading out for another snack stop. We kept stopping to check another packet. 👀😂 That’s something we love about exploring Bangkok during the Vegetarian Festival..the discoveries continue long after you leave the street-food stalls.
