Grateful doesn’t feel powerful enough a word to describe how I’m feeling after Before Midnight at @o2brixtonacademy. GREATful? LOVEful. Love filled. Emotionally fragile? Yes. Did I cry on stage? Yes.

We tried to put on a real show last night at @o2academybrixton. We eschewed screens for a huge tiered platform filled with dancers and incredible lighting. I played for four hours and it felt like forty minutes.

And we had special guests! I asked Zadie Smith would she consider reading something on stage from one of her essays on dancing and club culture, instead she wrote something bespoke for the night itself and read it under the spotlight, sending everyone wild.

Our other star guest Beth Ditto entered the stage singing Chaka Khan I’m Every Woman accapella and ended her turn with an electric performance of Standing In The Way Of Control.

I want to thank our incredible dancers @alawlewssagency for really upping the sexiness levels of the evening lol. Thank you to my crew family, everyone in the last slide, who worked so so hard to make the night run so smoothly. To @bethditto and Zadie, to my agent @lucyputman, to @nataliehartley for styling.

And to you if you were in that crowd, the energy you brought was unreal. It was warm in there. Warm and joy filled. Thank you so much for coming.

To finish with a line from Zadie’s speech describing moments on dance floors..

“We’ve never lost the memory of when the top of your head comes off and the universe comes in…”

The top of my head came off last night lads. The universe came in. I hope it did for you too.
