🚨 CROSS COLOURS’ FOR THE CULTURE RETURNS WITH 2.0 — CELEBRATING DIVINE NINE LEGACY, BLACK FASHION AND THE POWER OF COMMUNITY. 🔥 @crosscoloursla is back with FOR THE CULTURE 2.0, a new visual campaign centered on the Divine Nine and the generations of Black Greek-letter organization members who continue to influence culture through service, style, leadership and community. Created by Virginia State University alum + Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. member @missterray804 and Hampton University alum + Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. member @thekadeempilgrim, the campaign brings together Los Angeles-area D9 undergraduate and alumni members in vintage and contemporary Cross Colours. 🎓 HBCU alumni featured in the campaign represent: Virginia State University, Hampton University, Lincoln University, Jackson State University, Spelman College, Langston University, Central State University, Florida A&M University, Morehouse College, Southern University, Howard University, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Alabama State University. Presented by @blackradiancebeauty and @black_design_collective, the campaign honors the history, traditions and impact of the Divine Nine while showing how that legacy continues to live, evolve and inspire new generations. And the cultural connection runs even deeper with R&B icon @brandy representing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in custom Cross Colours — bringing together music, Black Greek legacy and a fashion brand that has been rooted in the culture since 1989. 💗💚 FOR THE CULTURE 2.0 is more than a fashion campaign. D9: FOR THE CULTURE 2.0 is here and releasing it during NATIONAL HBCU WEEK while launching @calihomecoming felt like the perfect moment 🎓✊🏾 This campaign started where so many of the ideas between me and my HAMPTON (shout out to @_hamptonu / @hu_greaterlapirates) brother in vision @thekadeempilgrim start: real conversations about culture, legacy, representation and how we can take something familiar and make it feel fresh, intentional and MEANINGFUL. We challenge each other, build on each other’s ideas, tighten the vision and then do what we do best — CREATE, EXECUTE and DELIVER. And there could not be a better home for that vision than @crosscoloursla 🖤❤️💚 Thank you @carljones_cxc x @tjwalkerofficial 💪🏾 Cross Colours is iconic because it has never just been about clothes. For generations, the brand has represented Black identity, self-expression, COMMUNITY and unapologetic pride. It helped define an era, shaped the visual language of hip-hop and Black popular culture, and continues to stand for the same thing this campaign stands for: showing up boldly as who we are. That is why this partnership aligns so perfectly with this moment. D9: For The Culture 2.0 brings together HBCU pride, Divine Nine legacy, fashion, music and community under a brand that has been celebrating Black culture long before it became fashionable to do so. And having CULTURAL ICONS @brandy @mclyte and @yoyofearless be part of the rollout makes it even more special. They are cultural icons, members of the Divine Nine, and women whose impact has crossed generations. Seeing them connected to this campaign even gives Brandy’s legendary 1994 “I Wanna Be Down” Remix another layer of meaning all these years later. But at the center of it all is the vision: honoring what built us while creating something that speaks to right now. PROUD of what @thekadeempilgrim and I created. Proud of what @crosscoloursla continues to represent. And proud to release this during a week that celebrates the institutions that have shaped so much of our history. L.A.’s burger rankings just got an update 🍔 Langston A. Williams added six new burgers to his running list of 55, but only one newcomer cracked the top 10: Not A Damn Chance Burgers at No. 6. Marathon Burger still holds the No. 1 spot, Chris n Eddy’s stays at No. 2, and Smack Burgers rounds out the top three. Meanwhile, In-N-Out lands at No. 38, which should definitely get people talking. 🖤✌🏽♠️ ran it back with @blkeventsla, as they hosted a community walk + block party in Leimert Park to celebrate their 3rd anniversary… …and with that intention, they also gave the Village what it needed most—each other. It all went down at @ThePlantChica, as people could take portraits by @thelayearbook, get flash tattoos by @flotatsla, cop jewelry and fashion by @asantibykoi + @belovedworldwide_, respectively. The day’s soundtrack was led by @itstrusound, @inhabituel_b, and @ashleyyounnia, who were locked in, while family, friends, and loved ones played at our tables—laughing, talking trash, competing, and pouring into one another. With coaches @mr_highyellow and @fromajwithlove holding down #SpadesAcademy, our commitment to preserving these #BlackFamilyHeirlooms felt reinvigorated when new players/students sat down to learn. To close out the night, @thedonbrowncollective played tracks that mixed nostalgia, jazz, and hip-hop as we entered the golden hour. This is #PlayItForward IRL. And this summer?
