It’s been a while but here I am again🤭🫣

WHAT MY NEUROPSYCHIATRIC POSTING TAUGHT ME

One of the biggest lessons I learned during my neuropsychiatric posting is that mental illness is not the same as being “mad,” as it is often misunderstood. Mental health conditions affect a person’s thoughts, emotions, mood, and behavior, and they can affect anyone.

Mental illness is not limited to people we see on the streets. It could affect a friend, a family member, a colleague, a neighbor, or even someone silently sitting beside us.

I also came to appreciate the strong connection between mental health and how we cope with stress, trauma, and life’s daily challenges. Substance abuse remains a major contributor to mental health disorders, despite widespread awareness of its harmful effects.

Most importantly, I learned that mental health deserves the same attention as physical health. Taking care of our minds, managing stress, seeking support when needed, and showing ourselves compassion are all essential parts of living well.

Another valuable lesson is the importance of checking in on people. A simple “How are you doing?” can go a long way. It is not a sign of weakness or unnecessary concern—it is an act of kindness that may provide comfort to someone fighting battles we cannot see.

Be kind. Be mindful. Check on people. You never truly know what someone is going through. 💙

I was invited to do a spoken word presentation at a book club event last Saturday, and it was beautiful.
I love to read myself, but I never knew writing a piece for readers would be so exhilarating.
I was glad I could put into words what it feels like to live a thousand lives through pages.🥹🌹❤️❤️
I'll post a video here soon😌😗

Slide 1&2: me 😗
Slide 3: The book judges (the name of the book club) wrote me a very heart warming note 🥹🤧. Thank you book judges✨✨ @iamtoryaa
Slide 4: Before the event, we got to visit a small zoo. I decided to take a shot of these beautiful ducks💫 We got to see other animals too.
Slide 5: My friend and I, sending you lots of love and kisses.+ Me doing a little dance😛
