A few weeks ago, I finished all the required clinical internship hours and course work to finish my masters degree ins Social Work from USC. Thank you to everyone who supported me in this journey. To my “five pillars of superstardom,” my family, my internship preceptors, my professor and my amazing classmates, thank you! Speaking of amazing classmates, if you are tagged in this post, we need a picture together! I’ll even come to you and I’ll buy us coffee! 😁😁😁

It’s also fitting that I got my degree conferred on Kobe Bryant’s birthday. This is a product of my Mamba mentality! So to close out, here’s an open letter…

“Dear Kobe,

You inspired me to aspire to empower others. I finished my MSW today. I am in a position to inspire the next generation. As your disciple, I ask that you and my patron saints, John Bosco and the Our Lady of Manaoag, to continue to guide me. I have a boy in the OC that’s taken an interest in basketball. I’m not the best coach and my knowledge of the game is very limited. But I believe in this kid. I am teaching him everything I know and I hope that me modeling hard work and work ethic is enough to get him started. He’s freaking intelligent too! My hopes is he continues to develop his game in high school and who knows, maybe get to go to college for free through basketball. I guess I’m asking that you guide me to do the best I can and to share your Mamba Mentality with this child. In your second act, you started working with kids. I hope to continue that advocacy in some shape or form.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Bryant! The world is not the same without you.
