Alexander Kolchak (1874-1920) was a Russian naval commander and political leader who played a prominent role in the Russian Civil War. Born in Saint Petersburg, Kolchak studied at the Naval Cadet Corps and later served in the Imperial Russian Navy, rising to the rank of rear admiral.

When the Russian Revolution broke out in 1917, Kolchak was appointed commander of the Black Sea Fleet and later became Minister of Marine Affairs in the Russian Provisional Government. However, after the Bolsheviks seized power in October 1917, Kolchak resigned and fled to France.

In 1918, Kolchak returned to Russia and became the leader of the anti-Bolshevik "White" forces in Siberia. He established a provisional government in Omsk and was recognized as the "Supreme Leader and Commander-in-Chief of All Russian Land and Sea Forces" by the other anti-Bolshevik factions.

Despite initial military successes, Kolchak's regime was plagued by internal divisions. In 1919, the Red Army launched a major offensive against the White forces in Siberia, and Kolchak was eventually captured by Bolshevik troops in January 1920.

Kolchak was put on asham trial and murdered by the Bolsheviks in February 1920. He is remembered as a heroic defender of Russia's pre-revolutionary traditions. #russia #russianstate #whitearmy #kolchak #history check out my comrades @valaney_mapper.1997
