Took a minute to catch my breath. And now, I merge the things I love the most: The sound of Black people. And the feel of nature. In this holy space my identities come together. I hear freedom, and time expands. I am forgiven and I have witness. Filmed in my backyard in Vancouver, Canada with my family by my side and at the helm, we created FERN. I’ve not gotten my hands dirty like this in some time. But seeing this come to life felt like a vision I saw coming. Everything is writ, afterall. Doing it with my heart exposed was the only way to create it. I was in awe of the simple complexities of people. We want to reflect, and nature is forever there to deepen and allow. I know it’s grace, and I am honoured to offer it to the world through music. Welcome to the world FERN. Our new music platform fuses nature with music, becoming a collaborator and an invitation to listen differently. To @serpentwithfeet - you are an angel. And the most loving of tricksters. I will care for you always. And @miketyus, you gorgous genius, collaborating with you was one of my greatest highlights. @iamwhitneyross , there is nothing I want to do without you. @treblesoul, you mastermind, I love you deeply. 💫Grateful is an understatement 💫 I attempted to make this post on International Women’s day but I ended up speaking at an amazing women’s conference and juggling my two kids on the road. But this trip and that conference has left me with such an amazing warmth and gratitude for all the women in my life. At age 18 I entered a toxic relationship that cut me off from my girlfriends and when that relationship ultimately ended, I went crawling back to my friends. Thankful they forgave me. I made a vow right then and there to ALWAYS put time and energy into my friendships no matter what. 20 years later I know I made the right promise to myself. Women laughing together and supporting each other creates magic ❤️ #heymama #friends #fyp
