I wrapped up the art for @blackerthanwatr’s new album. This project might be making its way into the world sooner rather than later. We’ll be teasing along the way!

@blackerthanwatr has given me reason to lean all the way into my love of Japanese prints and calligraphy. The art, calligraphy and color studies are complete. Tonight I shift to wrapping up the design. I look forward to when we can share this album with you.

IC3 @indiecomicscreatorcon the 3rd edition in Warwick, RI back on Sept 26th.

I was honored to join @ro.higashi & @landgrafken repping @cosmiclionproductions in an art battle against @powerpulpcomics. I was also supremely impressed by Eli and @artofjamiejones’ abilities to hold kayfabe and talk smack for the duration of the art battle. For all Jamie’s smack talk I had 2 of our Power Pulp opponents come up to me after and whisper, you guys totally won. 😂

We were pelted by a nor’easter and another snafu that in most other trade show circumstances would have amounted to disaster. But IC3 isn’t like any other trade show. It’s made up of people like me, who in many cases have had other careers and still work other jobs to get by, but we’ve all united as a result of our shared love of bringing our own independently created dreams to life through comics. As a result, we’re all suuuuper grateful to be present at IC3 showing and sharing our work and when things go wrong, we come together to help.

I could ramble positively for ever about IC3. This year was different than the 1st two, but experience has taught me to embrace change and not fall into the trap of fetishizing my overly nostalgic view of the past to the detriment of appreciating the present. So looking back a few weeks later, I can say IC3 3 was awesome!

Shoutout @matthew.sardo for creating this thing and holding it together, especially when bts got hectic. And @kasraghanbari whose vision for where this can all go gets me feeling very hopeful and motivated to work harder. And all the @comicartfans peeps!
Also huge thanks to @ewokdrawscomics for journeying and tabling with me and all the people who did show up despite the news telling everyone to stay home. It was great to meet locals and other indie comic creators ranging from students to more seasoned professionals.

Huge thanks to everyone who fux with me! I try my best to kick the love back, but conventions can get hectic, so apologies if I was distracted and not fully present with you.

My life’s mission has grown to be so simple.
Make more indie comics and motivate and help others do the same!

It’s been kind of fun walking around keeping this secret, but today I’m so psyched to finally share this with you. I know I’m far from alone when I say the Turtles were a huge part of my childhood. I consider this a bucket list cover and it’s for sure a big step up in my career. I’ve learned to enjoy and celebrate moments like this, but the truth is, now that I got a taste, I want more! Please help me spread the word so maybe I can get to do this again!
