The 2026 YDCCF Fall Auction is officially LIVE!
-
We’ve got an incredible lineup this year, with fishing and lodging packages at Madison Double R, Blue Horizon, and Jungle Tarpon Reserve, along with rods, reels, custom fly collections, original artwork, photography, unique experiences, and plenty more.

But beyond the gear and trips, this auction is about giving back to the places that have given us so much.
Every winning bid helps fund YDCCF’s work supporting local communities, protecting fisheries, and advancing conservation projects in the destinations we love to fish. It’s work that makes a real difference, and none of it happens without the generosity of anglers, lodge partners, brands, and supporters who step up year after year.

Head to the Link in Bio to browse the full auction, find something that catches your eye, and place your bids through October 25th.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who donated items and helped make this year’s auction possible!

FISHERY ON OUR MIND - YUCATÁN PENINSULA
After decades spent managing the finest saltwater fly fishing experiences in the Indian Ocean, Blue Safari Fly Fishing (@bluesafarifly_mexico) has opened up shop halfway across the world, at Sian Ka’An Lodge on the Boca Paila Peninsula, Mexico.

The combination of the Blue Safari signature, a mixed-species flats fishery on the Mayan coastline, and a lodge steeped in experience, means this ought to be a destination high on the wish list. Hell we wish we were there right now…

A great way to kick off the season in East End, Grand Bahama! 🇧🇸🎣

The season opener brought together good people, great fishing and a little friendly competition, all to raise money for the East End community.

A highlight was watching my angler, Linda, land a 28-inch bonefish on the final day—the largest bonefish of the event! She also landed her first ever mutton snapper on fly! It was also exciting to watch Phillip landed a monster horse-eye jack, and Beau catch his first mutton snapper on a fly his dad tied. I was also proud to take home the guide awards for Largest Bonefish and Most Species.

A big thank you to @yellowdogflyfishing , @yellowdogccf , and @eastendlodge for putting this event together, and to everyone who contributed. The foundation has done so much good for East End, and it was a pleasure to be part of an event supporting the community.

The places we fish have given us a lot over the years. Giving something back has always been part of the equation.

Through the Yellow Dog Community & Conservation Foundation, a portion of every trip booked and every purchase made with Yellow Dog goes directly toward supporting the communities, fisheries, and conservation efforts connected to the destinations we visit.

Our latest Field Report takes a closer look at the work of YDCCF and how fly fishing travel can be a force for good in the places that make it possible.

One reason we return to these flats year after year is the outstanding world-class fly fishing for wild trout.

Fly fishing was never the same…
-
Sometimes a small change can have an enormous impact.

While it’s difficult to know if others had arrived at a similar idea, Charlie Smith helped popularize a simple innovation that would change saltwater fly fishing forever: adding weight to the top of a fly. The idea was simple—the weight caused the fly to turn over in the water and ride hook point up, decreasing snags and increasing successful bonefish hookups.

Today, bead-chain and dumbbell eyes are standard on countless patterns and something anglers rarely give a second thought. But at the time, Charlie’s simple addition helped reshape the way saltwater flies were tied and fished, and the rest is history.

Bonefish are relatively honest fish. Unlike permit, they rarely leave you guessing about their intentions once you learn how to read them.

Their body language can tell you when they’ve seen the fly, when to keep stripping, when to pause, and, most importantly, when they’ve eaten. But getting the eat is only part of the equation. Keeping slack out of the system and maintaining tension after the hookset is critical, especially when the fish comes straight at you.

In that situation, keep stripping, stay tight and resist the urge to raise the rod too early. Once that fish turns and makes a mad dash for the next ocean over, you can lift your rod and enjoy the ride.

Our latest Yellow Dog Field Report takes us to Andros, Bahamas—a place that has played an important role in both Yellow Dog’s history and Ian Davis’s life.

Ian returns to his home away from home, traveling throughout Andros and visiting lodges, guides, and old friends along the way. The film also brings him back to the legendary Bang Bang Club, where he reflects on the early days spent with Charlie Smith—better known as “Crazy Charlie”—and the lasting impact those years had on him and his career in fly fishing travel.

But this Field Report is about more than fishing. Ian looks back at the growth of the Yellow Dog Community & Conservation Foundation and the work being done today to support the places and communities that make destinations like Andros so special. That includes the ongoing Mangrove Cay Park Project, supported by funds raised through the Big Yard Bonefish Classic.

It’s a look at Andros through the lens of its bonefish, people, history, and the relationships built over decades of traveling and fishing the island.

THE BIG YARD
-
They call Andros “The Big Yard,” and it doesn’t take long to understand why.

An immense network of flats, creeks, mangroves, and bights makes Andros feel less like a single fishery and more like a world unto itself. But the island’s significance runs deeper than its bonefishing. It’s the people, history, friendships, and generations of guides and anglers that have given the Big Yard its character.

Our latest Field Report returns to Andros to revisit some of that history and the people and places that continue to make the Big Yard so special.

Field Report: Andros, arrives Monday.
