The union behind entertainment in Washington, DC

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

NEWS!

Staffers at @930club @theanthemdc @theatlantis_dc @thelincolndc just delivered a petition to management demanding a fair process to unionize.

We are the workers who create the enjoyable, memorable, and safe experiences for musicians and concertgoers at these I.M.P. venues. We work hard. We look after patrons. We maintain positive energy. We make our venues the landmarks that they've become for countless people in D.C. and beyond.

Follow us @ItsMyUnion and @iatselocal22 @uniteherelocal25 to stay in the know. More to come soon!

At the Kennedy Center, every day is #LaborDay.

KCUAW filed our petition to unionize on May 15, 2025.

Our filing showed a supermajority of staff support across artistic administration departments, including Programming, Education, Development, Marketing, WNO, and NSO.

112 days have passed and the Kennedy Center executive office under President Ric Grenell is still obstructing our petition to hold an election.

Manufactured administrative delays, endless red tape, and baseless challenges to our bargaining unit are a form of #UNIONBUSTING.

Labor is patriotic.
Union-busting is un-American.

TAKE A STAND WITH THE KENNEDY CENTER WORKERS. Demand that Ric Grenell voluntarily recognize the KCUAW.

Finding Free at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater by Hope Boykin has its Kennedy Center premier tonight. I'm honored to have my work shown at OUR national theater. Thank you to @kennedycenter for presenting this beloved AMERICAN company since its opening in 1971. Thank you to @iatselocal22 for always supporting artists that come into your home. Thank you @alvinailey for giving so many artists a voice and using dance as an instrument for change. All we can do is create, VOTE and keep our heads raised high.

2024 was the year of ups and downs.

I handed off so many props, laughed during scene changes, and worked with some of the finest people I’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with. I accomplished the milestone of going to therapy for a whole year. I’ve been actively working on my fear of heights on the job, something that has been haunting me my whole life. Every time i go up high represents a step closer to being free of the spiral. I went to many Ravens games, Caps games, and learned that sports are so exciting when you don’t let it take over your life. I ate some cheese, drank some wine, did all the silly things that take me closer to being friends with my co workers.

While I laughed, I cried perhaps just as much. There were many nights I spent burying my face into my pillow in hopes no one else would hear. Fits of laughter would turn into labored breathing would turn into panic attacks. The breaking of the camel’s back was when I spilled my guts to my mother, telling her that I didn’t want to live anymore. We cried together, we hugged each other. And together, we came up with a plan to rise above the feelings of shame and defeat.

She was one of many who (unknowingly or knowingly) made an impact on my year. Pictured are some of the moments and people (but certainly not all!) that made me glad I stayed around.

Cheers,
Sydney

Brother Saul is leading us in song as we close out our @dclabor Delegates Meeting last week (12/16/24) with "Rudolph the Union Reindeer."

We are proud to be an affiliate of this Council. With members like brother Saul, it's easy to see why. And being this is Christmas day, it only seemed fitting to share this video!
