I met @ibeenhype while looking for a U-Haul, and that unexpected conversation turned into one of the first interviews for What’s Really Real Out Here and Prison Stories with the Cuban Assassin.

One thing I want to make clear: these prison stories are not about glorifying prison or bragging about what we’ve been through. They’re real experiences from our lives—many of them deeply traumatic and difficult to put into words. We share them to help people understand the different journeys we’ve taken and what those experiences did to us.

Giving people who’ve been incarcerated a voice is one way I want to serve the community—but I want to spotlight people who are trying to change, make positive choices, and do the right thing with their lives.

Mike opens up about the phone call that broke the news to him, shedding a tear, replaying everything they accomplished together, and the impact Fame’s passing had on him.

Mike also reveals that they had made amends before Fame passed, and that he went on to speak at Fame’s funeral and even got Fame’s name tattooed on him.

“What we did in some months…it wasn’t supposed to be like this.”
