In this episode of the Flourish with Ruth Podcast, I sit down with Walter for an honest and meaningful conversation about men’s mental health, healing, purpose, and the importance of self-care. Together, we discuss why it’s time to break the silence, overcome the stigma surrounding mental health and create spaces where men feel comfortable expressing their emotions.

Walter also shares his professional journey, the inspiration behind his books and practical ways men can prioritize their well-being. We explore what self-care looks like for men and why taking care of themselves isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Walter offers valuable tips on how men can intentionally “pour into their own cup” so they can show up healthier for themselves, their families, and their communities. https://youtu.be/CJiKZkSBKNw?is=CT1a5zlcTlg1pyOb #podcast #flourishwithruthpodcast #mentalhealth

Sometimes, you just need a minute.
To pause. To breathe. To reset.

I Just Need A Minute was written as a reminder that you deserve space to gather yourself, think clearly, and move with intention—not reaction.

Join @godswyll2001 and I virtually Wednesday @matcmilwaukee as we talk about why we wrote the book and how we take a minute daily—through journaling, exercise, reading, checking in with others, or quiet reflection.

Sometimes, that one minute changes everything.

The power of a minute.

One minute before responding.
One minute before reacting.
One minute before making a decision that can’t be undone.

So many lives changed forever because a moment wasn’t taken.

Pause. Reflect. Choose wisely.

What does a minute mean to you?

💡 Cold hard truth: Black men are taught to be strong, but not how to be vulnerable. That silence costs us.

📖 “I Just Need a Minute: Journal and Reflection Guide” gives you space to pause, reflect, and process what you’ve been carrying. Strength isn’t ignoring your mental health — it’s facing it head on.

🔗 Tap in, take a minute, and start your journey to clarity.

Men often carry an invisible weight—pushing through imposter syndrome while striving to always “show up” for everyone. 🤝

Sometimes that means overextending, saying yes when you should rest, and putting your own needs last… all because you value being dependable and refuse to make excuses.
But here’s the truth: you can’t save the day for others if you keep sacrificing your own well-being.

It’s not weakness to set boundaries—it’s wisdom. 🛑

Not everyone who needs help can accept it.

Pride. Culture. Unspoken rules.
Before you judge, remember—
their “no” might be protecting more than you see.
