Happy Thanksgiving! Grateful for you all in the bookstagram community! • This is one of @melissatagg ‘s oldest books, featuring a woman named Autumn and Tagg’s classic mix of humor, banter, small town America, and two rival hoteliers growing closer by the day. I smile so much every time I re-read this; as always, I cannot recommend Melissa Tagg more highly. 🍁 #bookstagram #booklover #books #tbr #cleanfiction #christianfiction #hallmarktown #inspirationalfiction #bookstagrammer

Suicide. Is. Preventable. For those of you who don't know, September 6-12 this year is National Suicide Prevention Week. As a YA author working on a novel that is oriented entirely around mental health, illness, and the ripple effect, I felt I couldn't not say something in recognition of this important week. Something I have been working toward the last two years is to work against the stigmatization and romanticization of depression and suicide in young adult fiction. In fact, NSP Week even appears as a crucial point in my novel. This is an ongoing conversation and its important to do the emotional and mental work for this incredibly painful, sometimes impossible topic. Sometimes it's not as simple as calling a hotline or taking a bubble bath. There are so many forms of care and conversation, and there is no one way to have a mental illness. Take a moment to check in with your loved ones or ground yourself this week. Do some research and have a proper sit down with yourself about mental health and illness in media in your life. It makes a difference. And it is important.
