How can we restore genuine connections in a digital world?

Over the course of several months, interdisciplinary teams of UdK students from various degree programs – ranging from fashion and product design to jazz, visual arts, and social and business communication – developed product ideas and prototypes to foster genuine physical connections between people through design and technology in our digitally connected society.

As part of the UdK Berlin Rundgang - Open Days, the three winning teams of the “Designing Togetherness” Challenge will present their prototypes to the public for the very first time from July 17 until 19, 2026.

THE STREETS ARE OUR STAGE: UdK’s Schau26 Takes Over Charlottenburg in a
Brilliant Act of Fashion Protest
If you want to know what the future of Berlin Fashion Week looks like, you don’t look inside the gated, sterile industry venues. You look directly at the asphalt. On Saturday, July 4th, Bleibtreustraße in Charlottenburg was completely transformed into a radical, living stage for fashion, protest, and raw public life. Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) unleashed Schau26, completely shattering the traditional, closed-door runway format by throwing its graduate and semester works right into the middle of the city, right onto the street in front of a massive, roaring crowd of over 1,000 people.

it’s been interesting seeing more designers take everyday clothing details and turn them into the actual focus of a piece.
things like hair clips becoming part of hats and bags, buttons reworked into belts, or oversized zips becoming entire jacket concepts. instead of treating these parts as small finishing details, brands are building whole ideas around them.

we’ve seen cool examples lately like @beatarydbacken hair clip jacket accessory, @bylukasross turning buttons into a belt, and @marierohanaa creating a large zipper jacket.
feels like people are looking at familiar objects in a completely different way right now.
