this is going to be a bit longer. i’ve been debating about making this post for awhile, and i wanted to share my love for the sport of climbing.

one of my best friends nick had been trying to get me to go rock climbing for months. he would constantly invite me, trying to get me to come with him, and i don’t know why i didn’t go sooner. eventually i decided to go, and was instantly hooked. i ended up going and buying my own shoes and a harness the very next day. within a couple weeks i had bought all the gear needed to go out on my own if nick couldn’t go.

i constantly feel pushed while climbing without feeling like i’m going to get insanely hurt if i try something a little harder that’s pushing my level of comfortability. it gets me outside, gets me in a physical and mental state that i don’t have to worry about anything else besides where i’m going to put my hands and feet next. it gets me away from everything in a healthy and positive manner.

over the last couple of months since i’ve gotten into climbing, i’ve been living in my head a little more than i would like to be. a lot has been going on with my life with work, music, and a whole lot more. but when i’m climbing, it relieves it. climbing teaches me how to handle those things in a safe, delicate, and positive manner. it’s taught me that it’s okay to get on my knees and ask the man upstairs that’s belaying me for life and yell, “take!”

if you’ve gotten this far, thank you for reading. i encourage you to go find something outside of yourself to get into to get away from all the stress of this thing called life. regardless if it’s a sport, a book, a religion, i highly encourage you to find something to focus on to help with your physical and mental state. and check in on your homies. we’re not all here forever so don’t live life with any regrets.

i love you all - kawda
