Without a doubt, I’ve had some of the best coaches anyone could ask for, and I owe a lot to many of them. But when this question came through, I immediately thought of these guys - no hesitation. I was ready to quit volleyball altogether before my parents moved me to Sports Shack. Playing for these three coaches, I learned to believe in myself and love the game again! Almost 20 years later and I am still VERY grateful! ❤️

The Grinder vs. The Natural: How Elite Coaches Coach Both

Two kids. Same team. Opposite needs.
One's not a natural — she grinds. The other's gifted — it comes easy.
Coach them the same way and you lose them both.
4× Olympic coach Marcio Sicoli (Pepperdine) on reading where an athlete comes from and meeting them there:
"That's the art of coaching."
The grinder needs belief. The natural needs a standard. Knowing which is which — that's the whole job.
🏐 The full Sicoli interview is in The D1 Vault — 14 head coaches, uncut. Link in bio.

I am beyond excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to play D1 beach volleyball at Pepperdine University!!

I first want to thank my Heavenly Father for His constant guidance in my life. To my parents, thank you for your endless love and sacrifices. I wouldn’t be who I am without you both!

A huge thank you to Coach Ryan Mariano for trusting in me and pushing me to reach my potential. I’m grateful for my @rpm_sand coaches for the constant support over the years. Thanks Dawson, at @d1arcadia for helping me improve.

Finally, a very special thanks to Coach Marcio and Coach Noelle for this incredible opportunity!! I am honored to join such a special program, and excited to continue working towards this new chapter. GO WAVES!! 💙🧡
