POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Nine months ago, I walked into @leadershipatx Emerge hoping to grow as a leader and gain some new skills. I didn’t expect it would also challenge me to grow as a person.

This experience taught me that leadership isn’t just about how you show up in big moments; it’s about the everyday decisions you make when no one is watching. It’s about aligning your actions with your values, even when it’s uncomfortable. Personally I’ve reworked my life around my new values and I’m thankful to now be refocused on what’s right for me.

Over these past months, I’ve learned more about my own leadership style, the strengths and perspectives of others, and the importance of setting boundaries that protect my energy, purpose, and peace. I’ve learned that saying “no” can be just as powerful as saying “yes.”

Most of all, I’m leaving this program with deeper self-awareness, incredible relationships, and a fuller understanding of the kind of leader and human I want to be. One who is authentic to herself, sarcasm and all.

Grateful for this journey, this cohort, and every conversation that stretched me, grounded me, and reminded me why authentic leadership matters. I may have not completed all my walk & talks but I grew tremendously through the program and I’m thankful for that. 🤍

Let’s now emerge back into our communities and continue to make that difference! 😉 🎉

Hi! I’m Melissa! ☕️

Since there’s a hundred or so faces on here now that I don’t know, it felt like a good time to introduce myself.

I started down/pour in October, just two months ago. I had a hard time finding a pumpkin spice syrup for my coffee that I liked — everything felt too sweet or too artificial tasting. It was all like faint essence of pumpkin with a lot of sugar, and it didn’t give me that warm cozy pumpkin-y fall feeling I wanted.

So I made my own! And it turned out other people wanted some too!

Soon I was making and testing tons of other flavors. Some turned out well, some didn’t. Some have stayed, some were quickly retired. I’ve been figuring it out along the way and going 100 mph.

I named down/pour after rain. Because there’s nothing I love more than a downpour — especially accompanied by thunder. Give me a cozy drink to curl up with during a rainstorm and I am my very happiest.

In this picture I was selling my syrup to people in-person for the first time at the Dickens on Main holiday event in Boerne, TX on November 29.

It was SO fun and SO much work. I’ve been taking a little break since then to focus on my other job (marketing for a small business) + my kid’s 5th birthday, but tomorrow I’ll resume syrup making before hibernating once more December 19-29! So you can get your orders in via the link in bio! 🎄

I can’t wait to continue this fun journey, wherever it may take me, and thanks for joining along for the ride!

P.S. I have some majorly supportive pals that I truly must shout out, so I’m tagging some in this photo. Between cheerleading, posting on IG, placing a zillion orders, helping me bottle, buying shirts 😂, and more, thank you. 💛 Instagram capped me at 20 but I could keep going.

To the moms who showed up with big hair, bold prints, soft arms, and steady love—
This one’s for you.

These vintage snapshots remind us what a treasure it is to have photos that tell our story. Not just the polished ones, but the real ones.

Hold onto them. Print them. Pass them down.
Because someday, these will be the ones they reach for.

Sweet boys. Kind boys. Brat boys. Portraits of the boys from our trip to Teton. There’s talk of Glacier National Park in 2025. Definitely one of the trips I look forward to every year. Here’s to many more. Love the boys! ♥️

Big Sur is absolutely unreal. The beauty of the California coast is something to behold. Glad I was able to bask in its beauty with these three kind gentlemen. I’m still sore as hell, dehydrated and questioning all those hot dogs we ate, but heck if it wasn’t worth it. Love you, dudes. ♥️
