In recovery mode today: Big, big shout out to everyone who passed by yesterday for part 2 of our Sunday monthly at @thecarpetshop.peckham , If Music Presents left_turn160 . As expected (like the proverbial 2nd album) numbers were down from the launch BUT oh my days, what a vibe, the djs: @thedjtrax , @djflight , @suburban.architecture and @if_music (playing out of their skins), Queen MC @lyricl slaying it, the multi-generational crowd (coming down/up from as far as St.Albans, Oxford and Hove) were sooo up for it, it was a beautiful ting. One of the highlights was defo hearing Herbie Hancock's "Death Wish" on that rig, daaaaamn! Round 3 next month (15th Nov) our guest is the legend Nookie and Cleveland makes his welcome retun as host. october selections here are all the events on my (extremely late) calendar (sorryyyy, i spilled water on my laptop 😭) summer may be well and truly over but don’t you worry baby, the best is yet to come !! october really is when the city feels most creatively alive, screens, stages, galleries and dance floors all going at once !! and with it being black history month there’s so much on that celebrates our music, art & culture: screenings of black zombie with @othercinemas, william greaves’ masterpieces, and a peven everett doc at @barbicancentre, plus always, already there, three days of afrodiasporic avant-garde also at the @barbicancentre, the black zine fair at brixton library and @aethermagazine’s fashion circus for music, as per usual, jazz is everywhere: black british jazz is turning 7, @samorapinderhughes & @iamelena at @church_of_sound, a d’angelo tribute, and much much more. and for some deep listening: @_ornellamutoni at @shai.space (her grounded live set is a fave) and @afruikasound at @theyaacentre for when the dancefloor calls, @plentyppl are bringing in bruk pioneers @igculture1 and @alexphountzi, girlz b like are turning 9, @lukeunabomber é soul cultura with detroit legend @marcelluspittman, and @miel.co.uk’s pulling threads. plus jams for a cause: jam for palestine, jazz for congo and jam for life with @thefivepointsproject, all raising money for v important causes, and then ofc a few halloween selections to close out the month amazinggggg stufff, all linked in bio !! enjoyyyy xx visual by @6opium
